I would not want to have a beer with George W. Bush

I do not drink with recovered alcoholic war criminals, as a rule.

Comments

  • The whole "have a beer with him" thing was always kind of ironic given that he quit drinking long before he ran for president.

ah but the question is: would you have wanted to drink with him in 2000?

    still no

He's not going to be charged with war crimes.  Srsly.

We're not even a member of the ICC.  Neither is Iraq.  And while Afghanistan is, pretty much nobody was arguing against us going in there.
  • being charged with doing a thing and doing a thing arent the same thing
  • Really I struggle to name presidents that aren't guilty of war crimes.

Which is not me saying it's OK. It's me saying "wow, the world sure is fucked up, huh?"
  • what about Jimmy Carter

you can argue about how good of a president he was, but you can't argue that he aint a great dude
  • I would have a beer with Howard Dean, despite my dislike of beer, just so that I could chat with him about the "50-state strategy".

DNC was much better with him running it than with Debbie Wasserman-Schultz.
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.

He got attacked by a giant swimming rabbit once

Future Buster Baxter, in that one episode of Arthur.

    also

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is the U.S. representative from Florida's 23rd district

she is being opposed for re-election by fellow Democrat and Nova Southeastern University law professor Tim Canova

if you know people who live in FL-23 -- which is basically much of suburban Fort Lauderdale, including where my own parents live -- tell them to vote for Tim Canova

if you need a reason, show them this: http://www.politifact.com/florida/statements/2016/mar/30/tim-canova/debbie-wasserman-schultz-attacked-bank-donations-a/

TL;DR blocking efforts from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to clean up the payday loan industry and its tendencies to shaft poor people (plus other issues)

i was going to say zachary taylor, mister "only in for a year", but then i remembered he had previously been a general and apparently he hunted seminole people with hounds

william henry harrison was in for a month, but also a general
    Wikipedia said:

He rejected Tecumseh's claim that all the Indians formed one nation. He said each tribe could have separate relations with the United States if they chose to. Harrison argued that the Great Spirit would have made all the tribes speak one language if they were to be one nation.

Tecumseh launched an "impassioned rebuttal", but Harrison was unable to understand his language.

    like god what's it take

Tecumseh was the frigging man, and Harrison is, I think, our actual worst president.

he definitely was if he pulled a friggin abyssinia
  • Andrew Johnson was probably our least likable president.

In terms of actual damage done to people and the world at large, it's hard to qualify.

Buchanan and Andrew Johnson are usually considered the worst, though Johnson is much worse for actual malice in addition to ineptitude.  Mostly I just remember Buchanan looks weirdly similar to John Pertwee.
  • Buchanan was mostly just really bad at what he did, as opposed to actually an evil person, from what I know.

Also the only president from my state. Yippee.

i checked to see who's from washington or oregon (none) and found an interesting fact, which is that obama is one of two presidents to be born a british subject after the establishment of the united states. him and chester a arthur were subjects for a while because their dads were from what were at the times british colonies (kenya and ireland resp.)

He was already losing momentum, incessant media jokes about the Dean Scream (which were backed up because the A/V setup made it seem like he was shouting over a quiet crowd when in fact the crowd was loud and he was trying to be heard) only intensified the process
