the drummer on this record is Wolfgang Teske, one of the two founding members of tech-slam juggernauts Defeated Sanity (the other founding member being his son Lille Gruber)

so apparently my guess was not too far off the mark in a way?

also apparently he died in 2010, but i never heard about it because he left the band in 2008, sad! :<
