This is how a baby is born

  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
And that is where babies come from...for MACHINES.
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
    So...

This game looks like a game.
  • I would say that sredni should play bloodborne but it would prolly be prohibitively difficult

    Yes.

It is probably the best Lovecraft game ever made, partly because until halway through you think it's a werewolf game.

Yeah, it looks really cool but excessively hard for someone as unskilled in vidya as myself. u-u

    There's always Let's Plays

Not that I know anything great to recommend.
  • Munch munch, chomp chomp...
I really enjoy Northernlion, and he has Bloodborne videos up. Not that I can judge his thoroughness or play quality, or even what his commentary is like (I ignored it as I intend to play myself). He's generally pretty engaging though, if you like fast-talkers and energetic responses and making it up as you go along style LPing.
  • I watched the NL lp and I thought it was fun
  • My dreams exceed my real life
I should note this is from the DLC, which he apparently hasn't covered
  • but yes in terms of aesthetics bloodborne is a cute ferret away from Peak Sredni Aesthetic
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
    Cool!

I will watch that LP later.
  • I know that Dark Souls is designed in such a way that pretty much anyone can beat it but it will always feel difficult regardless. I don't know if Bloodborne is the same.
  • My dreams exceed my real life
One thing I like is that it uses Christian symbolism and themes, like a lot of Japanese stuff does, but it uses it in a way that's additive and combines interestingly with the gothic/Lovecraftian horror tropes the game is also drawing on.

You will never look at the Eucharist and the Nativity in the same way

  • holy shit that thing gets up in your grill

and murders you with its placenta
  • My dreams exceed my real life
tbf, I was playing really shitty there.

I kept trying to parry attacks you shouldn't try to parry.

watching people play bloodborne is weird because parrying things with a gun is just so... not how guns actually work

Yes, but this is the steampunk version of a game where you parried shit with shields, dammit.

    Soooooo

    No?
  • My dreams exceed my real life
    No.

Much fewer ways to cheese it.
  • Ah, that's lame.
  • My dreams exceed my real life
Well I'm sure there still ARE ways to cheese it.

Also the DLC is harder than the main game.
  • My dreams exceed my real life
Though for the most part, the Souls games are NOT as hard as people make them out to be.

  • now I am remembering rockleesmile playing bloodborne

he insisted on playing it exactly like Dark Souls, and rarely used the gun

    Made Gascoigne a nightmare.
  • the thing is, people kept telling him not to do that, and because he really hates it when people try to backseat him (understandable), he kept doing it
  • My dreams exceed my real life
That makes sense, as Souls fans are the worst.

    Nick is just

I like the guy for the most part but he's so bad at the Souls series and tries to blame the game on it.

Man was on twitter last night stressing out about deleting a bunch of footage he took of various minor bugs in Dark Souls 2 and I'm just like "dude what are you doing".

Slowbeef did the same thing with Metroid Prime.  He honestly seemed like he was avoiding the scan visor out of spite, rarely noticed when shit was getting reflected, and never seemed to remember to charge his beam.  And then yelled at the game for being hard and obscure about things.

I guess that last one wound up working to his advantage in Corruption, because they massively buffed uncharged shots, especially Hyper Beam.
