Children's shows/stories where the moral of the story is "don't rely too much on magic"

Is this some sort of metaphor I've missed? Because unless you believe the target audience of Sabrina: The Animated Series or Star Vs the Forces of Evil is full of Wiccan children, this doesn't seem like a lesson that's very applicable in real life.
