A Weird Al anarcho-punk tune would be awesome but only nerds like me would get the joke because most people probably think Chumbawamba began and ended their career with Tubthumping.
I used to be an xkcd liker and disliker at different points in time, but have swung around to mostly not caring about it save for when somebody links a strip to me.
it seems to me that that has more to do with the nature of terminology in the fields than anything else
like, the "harder" a field is the more it seems like there's a lot of really inflexible terminology you have to know so it's hard to bullshit your way through a conversation, whereas with softer stuff you have more wiggle room so if you're not like totally ignorant and have a degree of natural aptitude for it it's not that hard to wing it
Pretty much. That a lot of postmodernist critique seems to hinge on self-invented jargon and neologisms meant to represent particular sets of concepts does not help, nor does how open things like deconstruction are to interpretation. The meaningful looks like gibberish to an outsider and thus gibberish properly presented may seem meaningful.
I don't mind it. Less a knock on litcrit and more a matter of how easily you can work your way into a conversation concerning it. I at least have seen a few instances of folks I know who're illiterate in e.g. postmodernism faking it through, because it's just so convoluted and they could read the air.

@Kexruct: YOUR KING and his child is a series of silly posts Anonus used to make in the motherheap.
Think Chef and Waiterman, but with a more Anonusy sense of humor.

I need to read that book again, this time past the first third.
cos nobody likes commercials and restaurant commercials are pretty especially boring
Full House and xkcd are not
dunno about IHOP
Anyway, this thread title is hilariously accurate and I commend AU for the excellent one-liner.
Honestly, this strip still kinda pisses me off.
So I'm confused
on topic, YOUR KING and his child was great
