Full House is like one big long IHOP commercial without the promise of pancakes

still have never been to IHOP

At least you're not banned from IHOP
  • is that like a reference to something or are you banned from IHOP or

YOUR KING and his child have a ban from IHOP that perpetually expires "tomorrow"

Centie would have pointed that out if I didn't

I thought it was a reference to this, but I guess not.

    I'm glad you did. ^_^
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
A pancake house-themed cover of Crass' "Banned from the Roxy" would be rather appropriate here.
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
A Weird Al anarcho-punk tune would be awesome but only nerds like me would get the joke because most people probably think Chumbawamba began and ended their career with Tubthumping.

    I remember that!

I need to read that book again, this time past the first third.
  • kill living beings
this is possibly the meanest thing i've ever heard said about a television show

this is possibly the meanest thing i've ever heard said about a television show

    how?
  • kill living beings
is this not intended as a creative insult

cos nobody likes commercials and restaurant commercials are pretty especially boring
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat

    nobody likes commercials

what about the people who upload them to YouTube for the purpose of reminiscing over days gone by?
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    but also, IHOP commercials are...

    Well, they shouldn't run for a half-hour
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
House of Leaves is pretty great

Full House and xkcd are not

    dunno about IHOP
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
I like xkcd but I get it not being to everyone's taste.

Anyway, this thread title is hilariously accurate and I commend AU for the excellent one-liner.

I used to be an xkcd liker and disliker at different points in time, but have swung around to mostly not caring about it save for when somebody links a strip to me.
  • We can do anything if we do it together.
I will say one thing about xkcd, though:

Honestly, this strip still kinda pisses me off.
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
Ask Sunn about that. I am pretty sure he can confirm at least the partial veracity of that strip.

it seems to me that that has more to do with the nature of terminology in the fields than anything else

like, the "harder" a field is the more it seems like there's a lot of really inflexible terminology you have to know so it's hard to bullshit your way through a conversation, whereas with softer stuff you have more wiggle room so if you're not like totally ignorant and have a degree of natural aptitude for it it's not that hard to wing it
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
Pretty much. That a lot of postmodernist critique seems to hinge on self-invented jargon and neologisms meant to represent particular sets of concepts does not help, nor does how open things like deconstruction are to interpretation. The meaningful looks like gibberish to an outsider and thus gibberish properly presented may seem meaningful.

    Munch munch, chomp chomp...

I don't mind it. Less a knock on litcrit and more a matter of how easily you can work your way into a conversation concerning it. I at least have seen a few instances of folks I know who're illiterate in e.g. postmodernism faking it through, because it's just so convoluted and they could read the air.

get this xkcd out of my thread
  • We can do anything if we do it together.
    I'm done.

I would assume, gender issues aside, that OUR KING is you, but to my knowledge you don't have a kid

    So I'm confused

  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
YOUR KING was a manifestation of some inner part of me, but that part of me is dead now
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
Or at least really really dormant
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
YOUR KING is dead, long live YOUR KING
  • You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
@Kexruct: YOUR KING and his child is a series of silly posts Anonus used to make in the motherheap.

Think Chef and Waiterman, but with a more Anonusy sense of humor.
  • Munch munch, chomp chomp...
    They were good posts.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch

Ask Sunn about that. I am pretty sure he can confirm at least the partial veracity of that strip.

reply in the trash cuz Anonus doesn't like xkcd i guess?

on topic, YOUR KING and his child was great
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
i was just in a bad mood due to IRL stuff when I posted that >_<
