Okay so I think this might be a good time to start using variable rolls. Result = [9], so you have some knowledge, but not a lot.
It's a sanguine angel. They hail from a parallel universe cluster, known colloquially as the seven-hundred-and-seventy-seven choirs. sanguine are divine messengers, and the message they usually bring is either scouring the earth or that someone is about to be born. Sanguine are creatures of blood and fire, and have unique healing and burning powers.
And yes, I do have Transistor on my mind.
If Un-Zebadel is too confusing, let me know. I'll stop doing it.
Oh sorry I've been so inactive these past couple days. Had other stuff going on, IRL. I'm probably going to be pretty busy next week, too, but I'll try to check in when I can. If it doesn't look like I'll be able to make it very often, I'll definitely let y'all know.
Would I know anything about the Pao clan from Well Studied? Something like their place in history, notable Monsters they may have killed, clan structure, something like that?

Yeah I'll tell you some stuff.
The Long clan is the ruling family of Diyu. "Long" is the clan name, but is not used in the same way that the commoners do. It's more of a title.
Let's take apart Gu Long and Yan Long's names. The first character denotes their "element", what kind of dragon they are. "Gu" means bone, so he's a bone dragon. "Yan" means flare, so she's fire.
The second character is "Long", denoting the Long clan, the ruling family of Diyu. This is the family name, but is more of a title and less of a "proper", commoner name.
The third character is "Wang" and "Pao", which denotes what familial line they're in. "Wang" means king, so Gu Long is of the royal family. "Pao" means "cannon", which shows that Yan Long is one of the lesser nobles.
Yan Long is still young, just past her own Rambling, so she hasn't done much. She's been assigned a rank of Baroness, and has been assigned to the artillery batteries of Diyu's armies.
Also, combat is now in the midst of changing. Should we stick with the rules we have or go with the new ones? I think I might like the new ones better.
Not fond of "defy" as a replacement for "resistant". I'm also not sure about switching to variable rolls as the default. But I do like the new combat traits, and the combat maneuvers.
I'm pretty fond of the mixed results of die rolls, and the way to increase and decrease rolls is neat. I don't think I like the reduction of traits, in general. I mean, Undeath dropped to like six traits, and they're not clearly demarcated between Combat/Exploration/Interaction anymore. It seems like they're all combat traits, though.
I'm not sure I wholly want to go over to the new system just yet, since it seems to still be in development, but I'm willing to try some of the new stuff. Like a play test kinda thing.
Those are just the combat traits. Only combat is being overhauled!
I think I'm a fan of the rules changes, I haven't seriously looked at the traits yet, but that's the easy part! :) I definitely think there needs to be granular success, otherwise there's no really good feeling about an especially good roll! (I like that feeling).
Ah, yeah, that's right. Well, even then I lose my combat traits until he rebuilds them. And I still don't really understand why passives were combined with combat traits.
I wrote down this entire explanation for why Min made a high-stakes mission even more high-stakes than it already was, but the whole thing boils down to Min naturally making things hard on himself when he could easily talk his way out of the situation. I'm not sure why.
There are a lot of reasons for the re-vamp. Part of it is that passives felt bland, but also it's not exactly clear whether they were traits or not; they all dealt with combat, so it made the game feel more combat focused to have an extra set of things to choose that are combat only. I wouldn't assume that every trait will be coming back! You may want to hit up the subreddit and ask if there are any you're especially interested in!

Some of our towns and cities have this one festival that the locals prepare for all year. Two months, three weeks, even a single day; all that preparation goes into that one space of time. Carnival, Crop Over, Mardi Gras, that sort of thing.
The Galactic Games are like that; they prepare for it all year, every year, and every time it passes, they are all a little richer, a little fatter, and very tired. And then they start it all over again.
The original idea was for Min to do a parody of Vigil Helltide's haughtiness, but I eventually decided that was too frigging complicated. I guess the current version's more of a Finesse roll than a Spirit roll, but that still falls with in the 16-20 range so w/e
I like how I didn't even want to give him a ranged weapon at first, and now he's basically a gunslinging minotaur.
Alright, so I start moving tomorrow morning meaning I'm probably gonna be pretty inactive this week. Sorry to do this. If Kraken wants to take over Gui until I can return, I'm fine with that, or if we just don't want to explain why Gui isn't doing anything, that's fine too.

For the record, every enemy has a weakness. I won't tell you what it is, but I will give hints. And when their weakness is triggered they may do something very drastic.
That said, I will be going to Australia in four days for a week and two days. I will see if I can provide updates there, but it is unlikely that I will be able to do so. Just so you know.
Oh, since Dispel was removed as an Arcane Combat Trait, I think I'll take Force Armor in its place. Also, the change in Dead Nerves makes it so that Gui has +4 Toughness now, so does that increase his HP as well?
Sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry! I thought I'd be able to post more but I wasn't. I had a mini vacation last week but I'm back now. My bad! In future if I dont post I give people permission to play my character! Play by posts can drag enough as it is!
So I don't really have any abilities that I can use at the moment to determine anything. The best I can do is Detect Magic. So, is there any Magic I can Detect? Aside from like the Pyramid Judges, which I assume are magical. Stuff with the investigation.
Frankly, I'm not sure if any of my skills are going to be useful either (barring my 'track anything' skill, which I'll be saving for the cat challenge). Should have gotten the interrogate skill, but bygones are bygones and whatnot.
Just do what feels natural to the character. Like examining that blood. Gui probably has more experience with blood than anybody else, after all.
Yeah, I was originally going to check out the corpse or talk to the Monster but since the corpse is fake I don't think Gui would have much use for it. Also, he's pretty liable to completely side with the monster even if he DID commit the crime (which of course is unlikely like he's pretty obviously a red herring)
Eh, he might have. If the people running the Trial of Justice trial are genre savvy enough, they'll know that contestants are going to naturally assume the mantis-man's a false suspect, and then make him the true killer just to throw them off.

Rumor Mill is useful. Detect Magic, also. For all intents and purposes, even if the scene is fake, every aspect of the murder has been simulated. EVERY ASPECT.
How does the new way of representing weapons affect natural weapons? Seems to simplify stuff and all in all I like it, but Gui uses his claws as his weapons, primarily, which means he's technically unarmed. And since he doesn't have any traits or anything that count his body as a weapon, he's going to start taking decreases in combat, which is kinda lame.
Unless of course we count his claws and his breath attack as weapons, in which case no problem is made. His weapons are just part of his body.
Claws is going to be melee and rending, and Poison Breath is going to be...disarming? Maybe Ranged too, which is what I had before but was never entirely comfortable with. It originally basically had rending before, but I'm not sure I want both my attacks to have rending. "Staggering" almost seems like a better keyword, but its actual effect is kind of lame, and doesn't matter much when coupled with Ranged.
Rolling Mind to detect and memorize the smoke for tracking purposes. Not to say that Min can track magic, but magic can leave non-magical residue, and he can track that. Unsurprisingly, I'm using the signature trait bonus for this

I'll need to find a new trait to replace Overload.

Fixed the silly mistake in my post, also.
