Like I said earlier, I suspect at least part of that comes from being British and so not really understanding how U.S. politics works, in addition to his rather obvious privilege.
I'm not inclined to be remotely charitable to a petulant little shit like Sargon of Akkad, but Anthony Fantano's conservative streak is something I find rather disappointing.

It's not exactly a conservative streak, though. The views of his that rub me the wrong way are pretty much neutral territory. This is a contrast to the pundit we have been discussing, whose bad views are bad in a very specific way.
He's pretty progressive, but non-judgemental and a bit contrarian. I've been following his work for a while, and it becomes pretty apparent if you look at what sorts of themes he finds compelling and what he says outside of that context.
^ He has a vlogging side channel where he occasionally discusses politics but more often it's jokey videos or short reviews of singles, so.
One of his recent vlogs was an eighteen-minute editorial about how complaining about Kendrick Lamar being "insufficiently controversial" ignores the fact that an issue can be important and need to be explored regardless of whether or not it actually ruffles feathers.
That was only part of it, but yeah, I can't see him going full librotarian.
I can't either, but I still don't agree with those tendencies. And I'm pretty wary of anyone who'd give Sargon the time of day. I've been following this GamerGate shit since day 1 and I'm so damn tired of all of it.
Man, I *like* Anthony Fantano. That's why this is bugging me.
You can be friends with a person on mostly non-political grounds and think they're kind of ignorant or misguided. But yeah, it bugged me for a long time, too. I'm only mildly bugged now.
Also, if you're even semi-aware of the shit that some people have given him over liking records with "controversial" lyrics (Death Grips, etc.)... I get why he's wary of the militant Tumblr crowd. Fuck, I'm wary of those people and I've never been a target, let alone over shit that trivial. Doesn't mean that I would hang with some of the people he hangs with in a million years, though.

He's not really super-toxic.
If he starts talking about politics in his videos beyond these podcast setups, then you should worry.

That's good to know if that's the case. I can actually strongly relate to that strain of thought, TBH.

I just have to say:
Most of the time, when people complain about things not being controversial enough, they forget that most of the nation doesn’t think like they do.
