Soldier is definitely broken, but it doesn't work with every deck instantly.

Honest, now... it can be splashed for anything. I find it in the same boat as Sangan. Easily splashable and causes nothing but OTK's. I'd ban it before Soldier, since that isn't a true OTK causer.

I can cause an OTK using Honest with any Light monster and a Double Attack. Soldier cannot cause an OTK unless he's fighting a super weak monster and is equipped with something really strong(like Axe of Despair), and even then...

Only Monster Reborn. Pot of Greed was came back some time ago, but once non-generic draw cards came out, it was unneeded.

We just need an Allure of Darkness for every type. :P

Also, that's hard to pull off Tno. You can't summon Soldier in the same turn you use Scapegoat.

Anyway, swarming the field with Ultimate Offering and some Gadgets isn't hard either. There's more than one way to get generate Tokens. Dandylion comes to mind.

@Haven: There is, kind of. There's a really odd card from a banned set that you rip it up, and any card it lands upon, you can play.

This card is dumb because of the making it impossible to play more than once. The other is because it's broken in itself. That, and the idea of playing any card from any game where the rules are different...

I got a ruling from a judge once that you could use Death Wish to grab a non-MTG card, but it wouldn't do anything and the card would effectively have no characteristics. That gets us halfway there, I guess.

Makes sense. Although I'd question a Duel Masters card since the game is extremely similar.

It's still broken, unless there's no good card available. But as for "not do anything", well, makes completely sense, right?

You see, once upon a time there was a card called Chaos Orb. Chaos Orb, along with Falling Star, required actual physical actions to be used, resulting in messy situations that were so difficult to adjudicate that both cards were (and remain) banned from tournament play. One particularly enduring story involves a player who was in the Finals of a major tournament (before Chaos Orbwas banned) and realized that he had one way to win: by tearing up his Chaos Orb and sprinkling the pieces on his opponent's cards. Supposedly it was this incident that led to Chaos Orb and Falling Star getting banned, and the story is famous enough that it inspired a card inUnglued, Chaos Confetti.

Well, in addition to the origin of the Iron Man format, some shenanigans with Ring of Ma'Rûf andJyhad (Wizards' other major TCG at the time), and a truly horrifying story about thirty Black Lotuses and some turpentine, this edition of "According to Mr. Pling" includes a purely hypothetical, just-for-fun compilation of eight silly things you are definite not allowed to do withChaos Orb ... including, you guessed it, ripping it up and sprinkling it on your opponent's cards.

Now, maybe the urban legend is true. Maybe the person who did that inspired this list, or was inspired by it. Maybe. But rumors in the wider world often begin with "Wouldn't it be neat if ...?" and end up as "I heard about this crazy thing that happened ....", and I find it a lot easier to believe that that's what happened here.

That sounds like the kind of daft thing that would happen in the Yu-Gi-Oh anime or something similar.

My friends introduced me to the Yu-Gi-Oh CCG and I've been a fan ever since, though not that good a player. I run a mostly Control Ancient Gear Deck.

Do any of you guys have Dueling Network accounts? It's the Yu-Gi-Oh CCG online, basically a browser-based version of Cockatrice for Yu-Gi-Oh. If you have an account you should put it here. I'm IsThisTaken?

That's my deck. A few notes:

* My main regrets are the lack of Lightning Vortex and Solemn Judgment. But I don't like really large decks; this one is still a bit too big for my liking.

* Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem is not there to actually fight on the battlefield but to be consumed by Destruct Potion. That gives me tons of health and gets another Ancient Gear Golem on the battlefield.

* Some of the monsters, notably D.D. Lady and Machine King Prototype, are there simply to keep a constant stream of monsters. I've had way too many matches recently where I haven't gotten monster cards for, like, five turns.

* I fail to see the point of using Reload when you can use Magical Mallet to choose the bad cards in your hand and keep the good. That's why I have two.

* I mainly use Star Blast to bring down the level of the Ancient Gear Engineer so he can be deployed on the field without a tribute and act as a buffer against "kill all monster" trap cards.

As for my decks....mostly old school stuff. I didn't understand the mechanics of Synchro Summoning until rather recently and still don't really get Xyz monsters too well.

Still not familiar with any good Synchro monsters, though.

I never really bothered with Synchro Summoning either, but my friend can do some crazy stuff with it. He can summon like two Synchro Summons in three turns. It's ridiculous.

Anyway, good Synchros? Brionac is the best one that won't be banned. Then there's T.G. Hyper Librarian, Formula Synchron, and Stardust Dragon. All 4 are good staples to have.
