I wonder if I See Clam ever feels bad he commited himself to hating all non-Shmup indie games from the beginning, and every year he has to hate more and more games.
Braid seems like something I might like, and I suspect that much of the hatred towards it is projecting the developer's admittedly dumb behaviour onto it, much like what happened with Fez.
I can't say for sure, though, and I don't want to appear stupid in case I'm wrong, so just whatever, I guess.
I've always just been surprised by the level of hype.
Yes, it's a platformer with time mechanics and slightly more interesting than usual plot. That's just a few steps above every Kongregate game published from 2008 to 2011
Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
Bastion's better than Braid.
Also, the debate about what is and isn't art is far older than any of us put together, and from what I can tell, having an all-encompassing definition isn't going to cut it.
The debating what is and isn't art, ironically, is a craft.
bastion, the stanley parable, portal, and thomas was alone are breakout hits of the "really awesome voiced narrator says lots of entertaining things while you play" genre of video games

i literally just clicked on the thread and offered my opinion, i wasn't trying to argue
like why would you even argue about that, it's pretty subjective
so i took it to mean 'look that's all i'm saying alright stop trying to convince me they're good'
when i spell this out like this i realize i maybe read too much into this
idk
It's an interesting puzzle platformer.
I'm not smart enough (or not patient enough) to beat it without guides.
The story...it seemed more like flavortext, I guess.
Is the game art?
You can say it's art; you can say it's not art.
It's as much art as other games are art.
I personally believe games are art anyway.
Sorry, I just sorta ignore the whole argument over whether specific games are or aren't art, and simply declare all of them art.
i played some braid one time and got stuck i think
they are works in a creative medium
therefore they are all art

and apparently Blow said Japanese games were 'joyless husks'
which is dumb
so who cares about others' definitions
we're talking about art anyway
Me and Magic Jane can agree on this.
