I guess my perspective different since I grew up with lots of classical music (and a good amount of videogame playing and some children's cartoons) but relatively less in the way of movies and big lit.
At this point my gaming life revolves entirely around three games, two of which are platformers and the other a role-playingish FPS, and one of which is not confirmed for sequels anytime soon.
given naney's stated reasons for liking Mario 64, i'm slightly less confident in the Psychonauts recommendation . . . it has its moments of weirdness and isolation, but dialogue and characters also play a big part in it.
