Good to know that the hype was well earned; I'd knew that Annie was a critical darling because of that time last year when I had a subscription to Rolling Stone, but I never got around to listening to her stuff.
(It's a lot more poppy than what I expected, considering the way she presents herself. A pleasant surprise, though.)
Now you must listen to her other three albums and tell me your thoughts! 0w0
Or just Actor, maybe. The whole back catalogue is optimal, but just knowing how you respond to that one would be good.

Any thoughts on individual songs?
Favorites of mine: "Birth In Reverse", "Digital Witness", "Huey Newton" and "Bad Believer".

I'll listen to Actor soon!
"Huey Newton" is spectacular. Possibly the best song about tripping on sleeping pills and/or having conversations with dead radicals released this decade. Also, "Bad Believer" is a really splendid bonus and the only reason I am not disappointed with the failure to include it on the original cut is that said version flows so well to begin with.
Strangely, "Every Tear Disappears" is one of those songs that every reviewer I have encountered seems to feel fell flat but is a personal favourite of mine. I love the way the vocals at the end are muffled and how the sounds each have such distinct mixes and timbres. Can't say much against "Digital Witness", though, other than it maybe seems like an update of "Marrow" from Actor, but they're so different in tone and theme that the musical similarities are kind of moot: "Digital Witness" is wry and sardonic while being very musically immediate, while "Marrow" sounds like a psychotic break just about to happen.
