^ one of my favourites from that album actually. even 40 or so years later thr experience of riding long distance trains and sitting in waiting rooms is broadly similar, just ppl are on their phones more
PJ harvey - the glorious land
courtesy of he radio again, 6 music is on it tonite
ive not heard it,, i know of d double e as part of the newham generals (being from newham) but yh never checked it out, ill put it on the list
the radio is now playing Reckoner by radiohead
the dude doing this show is a guy out of public service broadcasting and so far it seems to be pitched squarely in the good-but-squarely-mainstream indie rock sphere
dont get me wrong i like pj harvey and radiohead a lot but compared to the wacked out obscure psych show earlier (tropical bass from peru!!) its less ngaging
what's weird is just how variable in terms of mastering the thing is, like sometimes it's really muffled and grainy and kinda quiet but other times it's reasonably respectable

i'm not a big Joni person truth be told, and my favourite album of hers is Blue, predictably
courtesy of the radio. chill psychd-out guitar stuff fair enough. blue is a cracking album. if you haven't heard 'court & spark' i would recommend that as it's her most "rock" album i think
