Soul Separator is really impressive from a Vorthos perspective--it's such an intuitive idea, but actually translating that mechanically must have been tough.
Hilariously, the EDH deck it would go best in is Trostani.
Exploration's only super-dangerous when it's paired with a mechanic that provides you with lands to play. Like Land Tax or lots of card draw or bounce lands. Besides that, it's relatively harmless as far as enchantments go. I'd be more fine with it than, say, Rhystic Study, which is worthy of kneecap breaking.
As for landfall, it is a fun mechanic and at its best when you're playing Simic or Sultai. I have a Damia deck that's based around playing green ramp (usually Boundless Realms, which I manage to draw every single time I run Damia) and triggering landfall en masse (usually resulting in an Ob Nixilis with 20+/20+, who is still useless because he has no evasion)
I'd like to playtest my landfall deck sometime today.
Also kind of want to build a deck around that Master Polymorphist lady? She's cool. Monoblue seems like it'd be hard to build in a way that didn't make everyone hate me tho.
^^ I actually made Jalira, like, a week or two ago?
It's monoblue, yes, but it's monoblue with a focus on creatures rather than spells, so it's not nearly as terrible as it could be. Buuuut it's also littered with a lot more Eldrazi than I usually run, so take that with a grain of salt.
^ I'm tempted to start a discussion about what colors certain politicians would be, but no, that would be terrible and I would hate it
Yeah I faced that problem back when I played Teferi. Though at least in that case people were usually willing to believe me when I told them I wasn't playing any of the cards that make a lock with him.
I am starting to realize how many legendary creatures there are that I've just never heard of.
Jhoira's cool but the usual approach with her is to just suspend a few bunch of Eldrazi and extra turn cards which is pretty boring.
imo if you want to play Eldrazi your entire deck should be Eldrazi otherwise it's just boring
really I don't like the Eldrazi much in general anymore
Well honestly I have no idea what Jhoira decks look like in 2016. Back when I actually played a lot of EDH there weren't nearly as many Eldrazi as there were now.
I am, admittedly, a little burned out on them myself. I have to question why WoTC decided it would be a good idea to have two blocks featuring them in a row.
In EDH, I generally try to stay away from overused strong creatures. Eldrazi, Praetors and the like. You use them in every deck and you'll end up playing the same way no matter what deck you play, and that's not what EDH is about. But I had to relax the rule with Jalira because, if you're not cheating out giant creatures with her, then what's the point?

I also don't understand this.
And personally I think the Eldritch Moon eldrazi have been rather unimpressive. Compare It That Rides As One to something like It That Betrays.
I get that the circumstances are different but the design of the former just doesn't appeal to me.
also, you're obviously really into Chinese culture with your purchase of 'Once Upon a Time in Shaolin'. You should definitely buy up all of Portal:Three Kingdoms, which is based of Chinese folklore. Horses may not be allowed in your jail cell, but you creatures can have horsemanship, which is pretty much the same thing! VALUE!
I like the eldritch moon eldrazi much more than all the others because they have like a degree of actual horror to them as opposed to BIG TENTACLE DUDE COMIN' ATCHU CHOO CHOO MOTHERFUCKER
nahhhh, you got the whole transformation body horror thing going on, with the mechanics to reinforce it
the only time the other eldrazi felt like the mechanics really matched the horror aspect imo was with Newlamog instantly frying your mind via mill when he attacks

ok but the body horror is boring to me and I don't like the mechanics either, so it really just doesn't do anything for me at all
(and I dunno I think Annihilator is a great mechanic for conveying 'these things are horrendously, otherworldly powerful')
annihilator is powerful sure, but it isn't like, specifically otherworldly, mass sacrifice is something that's already represented on cards, like Rakdos 2.0 basically does the same thing.
whereas like sticking two cards together to make a bigger card, or exiling your entire library then shuffling your graveyard into your library, those abilities are both novel and fuckin weird
Meld is basically just Big Furry Monster but not a joke, and even that aside it's just a more complicated version of the flip card mechanic. I think it might actually be my least favorite mechanic that's actually rolled out while I was into the game.
I dunno. I like other things in Eldritch Moon, but most of it does not appeal to me at all. I'm sort of bored of universe-rending menaces now? I feel like part of the problem is that there have now been enough Eldrazi cards printed that they're not actually weird anymore, they're just part of the game now in the same way Elves or Zombies are.
I mean, something like Thought-Knot Seer is just a dumb overpowered midrange creature. There are lots of those. The big ones are big powerful scary monsters, but again there are a lot of those.
What made the old Eldrazi so frustrating is that they kill you before they kill you. Normally in Magic when you're staring down a 15/15, as long as you have 16 life there's that glimmer of hope that you can draw some card to put some line together that will let you win. Most of the time you won't, but sometimes you'll hit your one-percenter, win a game you were supposed to lose, and have a story to excitedly tweet about. Moments like that are what I play Magic for.
But if it's Emrakul you just sac all your lands and then you're screwed no matter what.

I'll stop now but yes this is exactly what the magic movie should be
...And now I'm imagining Emrakul in a country manor, drinking tea and eating crustless cucumber sandwiches.
