Ehh, you want to use Polymorphist's Jest more when you're trying to run your enemies down with tokens or something. Considering Wrex has built-in evasion in two very popular colors, it's not as useful as it could be.
Now, if we were talking about the Merfolk legend that makes Drakes..
No no, you don't understand. Frogs are the cause of and solution to all possible problems.
Chittering Rats (and its awkward, memetically popular older brother, Chimney Rat) are actually pretty annoying if you've got a consistent recursion engine.
I run them both in a Shirei deck, and if I'm playing with a big group and my board is set up properly (easier said than done), I can basically ruin an opponent's next 5 draws before my next upkeep. And that's ignoring the effects of whatever sac engine I'm using.
Shirei is actually one of my favorite niche Commander decks. There's nothing quite like taking ETB and LTB triggers and abusing them to the full extent.
I don't use it that often though because, A, getting Shirei/Protection for Shirei/a sac engine on the field at the same time is easier said than done and B, when it does work, anybody I'm playing with tends to be...upset, at the very least. I wouldn't exactly want to play against a Big Game Hunter every single turn either.
You have to use an external sealed deck generator (I prefer this one, which has apparently improved even more since last time I checked) but you can export it pretty easily.
if Jane doesnt feel like it, i might be up for a game, but do bear in mind that:
1. im still pretty green with the game, so i might have lots of rules questions
2. i will probably have to ask you about hotkeys a few times as well
Sure! I forget the hotkeys too, but I'm definitely the person to ask about rules. And I think Sealed is a really good format for learning how to play Magic--having a random pool of cards means we're both on equal footing, and it lets you build a deck without having to pick from literally every card ever, which is cool.
The basic rules of sealed: 40 card deck minimum (and you don't want to go over 40 either, since you have a lesser chance of getting your best cards) chosen from a pool of 6 boosters plus an unlimited amount of basic lands. You usually want 17 lands and 23 other cards.
Anyway, do you have a set you prefer, or shall we just go with Shadows over Innistrad since it's the newest one?
Great! So click here, go to "boosters" (it should say "6 shadows over innistrad: standard booster"), then click "generate my sets". That'll give you your pool. You can sort them by color, cost etc. and then when you're ready, click "export" and you'll be able to make the deck in cockatrice (or edit it as a text file if that's easier, then copy/paste that into cockatrice).
Let me know if you have any questions about all that. (I recommend sorting by color first, so you can pick your colors based on which ones are strongest and most consistent--you generally want to build a two color deck)
Multiplayer sealed isn't a great idea imo; since everyone only has 40 cards it probably just leads to everyone stalling and then mulling out. We could get a 4th and do two headed giant, that's always fun, but I'd rather just do one with Naney to show him the ropes if that's alright
Hokori's another one of those "why isn't this banned" things for me. The least fun I've ever had playing Magic was a guy who locked down the entire table in like a six-player game with Hokori but didn't actually have any way to win.
a lot of these combos this guy is spitballing really just do seem to be "hey, here's a way to make everyone you play against want to stab your face".
Turns out if you play a bunch of extra turn and extra combat step effects, you can pretty much cast your whole deck the first time you attack with Narset. Plus, she’s immune to spot removal.
Ah, Dark Confidant. It's the sort of card that I'd never, ever use unless I had to, but I love the story behind the original's 80's haircut.
Dark Confidant is so nicknamed after Bob Maher, its creator. Maher won the right to design and be immortalized in his 2004 Magic Invitational submission. The card's flavor text alludes to Maher's epithet "the Great One"
how can you be a boring enough person to talk at length about your "ideal banlist" holy shit I never want to talk to this person ever or be in the same room with them even if that's possible.
^ Eh, I can kind of get that. Arguing about the banlist is a time-honored tradition. Personally, I'd like Merieke to be placed on there forever and Primeval Titan to get reinstated.
