Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
Okay, one white potential-lizard vs. five black lizards. Who has the advantage here? :P
Mistform and I greet each other on a windswept peak jutting from the tallest mountain of Theros.
"So, old friend," I say, cautiously, "I understand you are a God now."
Mistform appears to nod in acquiescence.
"Do... do you feel any differently?"
Mistform appears to regard me for a moment.
"Do you not comprehend any differently? Would you presume to know the scope of the multiverse, despite encountering new worlds every year of your life? Do not mistake a blindfold for a void."
I am chastened. I say nothing. For a moment, we listen to the wind.
"I feel no different and am no different, as always. Theros has always existed, young one. I have always been a God."
Just because if you take control of one of their creatures, and they try to get it back, they lose it forever and it goes on to fuel your victory. *maniacal cackling*

haven, you seem to be my kinda guy when it comes to matters of trading card games
There is no good reason as to why we haven't gotten a goblin planeswalker yet.
Goblins are one of the most ubiquitous species in the Multiverse, with a birth rate rivaling that of most rodents. In addition, they're the race most likely to get into the kinds of life-threatening situations that usually trigger spark activation.
Consider that we have a couple dozen human planeswalkers, along with, like, eight non-human planeswalkers, we should logically have, like, twenty goblin planeswalkers. The only other option is that the Planeswalker's Spark is simply racist against goblins. Then again, considering that we've only had one two nonwhite planeswalker so far, I wouldn't put it past the Spark.
I'm not saying that Slobad and Karn don't count as planeswalkers. I'm saying that they don't count as planeswalkers who were born with the spark in accordance to the typical distribution of sparks across sentient beings, which is what I'm trying to talk about.
That made me think "there should be a Lady of Pain planeswalker" but then I remembered that, almost by a definition, a planeswalker is the one thing we know she's not. #planescapehijack

I like this card because RockLeeSmile misread its description as "Flying Butthole 1".
Trying to make a deck based around the Epic mechanic. Specifically, this card:
Besides getting to make a deck based around Snake tribal (you cannot look me in the eyes and tell me you don't want snake tribal), I get to explore the technicalities of Magic and see how much I can get onto the battlefield without having to actually cast anything.
My only question is which other colors to bring into this. The original plan was to use Bant colors, because blue has good sorcery tutors, white has token boosters and protection, and Derevi, Empyrial Tactician can be put into play without being cast. But red has extra spell replicators, and black has the best tutors.
Endless Swarm might be the worst Epic spell, come to think of it. (Undying Flames may be worse, but burn doesn't have summoning sickness and it can't be nullified forever by Elesh Norn. And it doesn't cost 8.)
Case in Point: my last project before Endless Snaaaakes was an attempt to use a Theros legendary that wasn't one of the gods. We ended up going with Anax and Cymede, partially because I haven't done Boros colors yet, partially because I wanted to use the Heroic mechanic (which consistently baffles me), and partially because the other legends were either boring as commanders, too similar to what I'm already using, or too easy to break (i.e. Medomai).
The final result was soldier tribal aggro with sporadic tokens, and no Iroas and no Aurelia because it's an army of the common man. And the Nobilis of War, but he just kind of showed up, as he is wont to. Unsurprisingly, it's been going poorly.
I like the sound of that, although pure aggro in EDH is always kinda dicey because there are multiple players with high life totals. It seems like the best way to use them in practice would be as a combo deck where you generate a lot of tokens and then activate the heroic trigger a few times so they can kill everyone all at once.
Soldier tokens en masse is tricky, but yeah, I think I'm going to revise the deck with more token makers and, seeing that most of the best White token engeines are 6+ in mana, more mana ramp.
In other news, TvTropes actually has decent info on MTG.
Except for the bit about the Raka shard, which is just a bunch of jokes about America

Continuing to watch Rob (AlpacaPatrol) and Nick (RockLeeSmile) play DotP, and Nick won using a mono-Green deck that boosted itself using enchantments and doubling tokens. It was cool to see his creature forces grow like that.
Granted, part of the reason Nick won was because it was a 3-player free-for-all and Austin was so focused on taking out one of Rob's heavy hitters that he wasn't paying any attention to Nick, but still :P
Speaking of Rob and Austin's decks, making a demon-themed deck suddenly seems kinda cool.
Token Armies are usually a fun sight to see. Unless it's elves, because elves also means ludicrous lifegain.
Or if your opponent's running Grave Pact/Dictate of Erebos. Do not do this outside of a competitive match. It's cruel to make your opponents hate the game that much.

It was a mix between human shamans and other animals, as I recall.

Good point. And I guess that would replace the slot that would otherwise be take up by another Dungrove Elder. Even if it might work better on Timber Protector.
And the best thing is that they have their own Planeswalker now.

Also we've had black, blue, silver, purple, greeny-yellow, grey, green, and red planeswalkers. :P ...And whatever skin tone Domri has.
