"All creatures attacking in a band with "Emrakul, The Aeons Torn" gain Annihilator 6."
Technically, it's just Emrakul who has it still, banding basically lets the creatures combine damage and toughness when blocked (however they're all blocked). I think the few advantages are the "banded mass" can deal more damage to a source, potentially killing it where one creator could not.
I BELIEVE the controller of the banded mass also gets decided how combat damage is dealt to his mass, I could be wrong about that.
The specifics are kinda wonky, but basically when something's phased out it doesn't exist, and it phases back in at the beginning of your turn before you untap.

Haven used it in EDH to piss off Friday and I, but now we use it too so we can all be pissed at each other just like nature and God intended.
I, appropriately enough, resurrected my Goblin deck by splashing black.
Wort up there is crazy broken, be cause you can often use her to return a creature control card to your hand EVERY turn and force your opponent to sacrifice a creature every turn.
What's worse is that, with the right goblin, you could be doing it for one mana.
there're not many days when you see Haven ragequitting a game indeed
Oh dear.
To put this in perspective for some of you other guys, Haven didn't ragequit when I destroyed all his lands and was wailing on him with an Eldrazi'd Kiku.

Haven's pretty stalwart.
He and Friday basically let not one but TWO drawing mechanics of mine stay in place for a good 10+ turns. I was discarding like one or two cards a turn, but I was also building a hand completely out of game finishers.
Haven actually stuck it out until I reduced his life to zero even with pretty much all his preeminents gone and me with little army of giant vampires and I think an Eldrazi I had stolen from him...
Then again, this is EDH, and the right card can really change the dynamic.
Seriously, though, I've always wanted to get into these card games and I never really could. Though it would probably be Yu-Gi-Oh since that's what my friends play. Magic is interesting to me though.
Yeah, my friends play online. I've always wanted to try the cards though since my friends all have physical copies and they sometimes have big duel tournaments.
Anyway, can someone explain to me the difference between Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic? My friends said Yu-Gi-Oh is based solely around monsters while Magic has mana and stuff like that. Also, in Magic, certain monsters have innate advantages over others.
Well for one thing, Yu-Gi-Oh is most certainly not based around just monsters, though they're a bit more vital than they are in Magic. And yeah Magic has mana, which is colored magicstuff you use to do anything.
You should probably have one of the vets explain it to you, honestly. I'm a terrible teacher.
Stop with the nerdrage, I was joking. I wanted to see if I could get a reaction because my friends love to yell at me whenever I insinuate Magic is better for laughs.
Okay, so it's been a while since I played Yu-Gi-Oh, but I think a lot of the differences can be explained in terms of what resources are important. Both games include monsters with abilities and both games have cards that can be used to respond to something an opponent does. In Yu-Gi-Oh, you get access to more powerful monsters by having specific cards or being able to sacrifice smaller creatures. You can sort of do something similar in Magic in certain situations, but generally you get access to bigger and better spells as time passes, as each turn you get to play a single land, and each turn all your lands can be used to generate one mana each. Generally the spells with the best effects are more expensive.
Also, creatureless decks are viable in Magic.
From what I hear, Yu-Gi-Oh is a lot worse at managing the economics of the game and there are fewer viable decks.
Also, there's a difference between nerd rage and nerd disdain.
whatever, anyway, as Gelzo pointed out, YGO values creatures/monsters more than Magic and yeah, there's such a thing as a creature less deck, although it has to rely on stuff like burn and stallers to survive.
The thing about Magic is that nowadays they actually try to make cards somewhat balanced.
From what I can tell, Yu-Gi-Oh is still full of useless cards with the occasional gamebreaker, and a ton of awesome cards that are "secret rares" meaning you have to sell organs for booster packs in order to even get a chance at them.
Considering that I haven't played Yu-Gi-Oh in forever, I could be completely wrong.
I would argue that YuGiOh is more fun in a setting with people who are not serious card game-players, as it's not nearly as rules-heavy.
I could be wrong about that though.
As for gamebreakers, there are a lot of them in YuGiOh, I will admit, but there are also a lot of nonbroken combinations that are good (eg. the Aliens) and just fun to play in general.
I'd argue that it doesn't matter whether game breakers are banned in tournament play because you're bound to find such combos in casual play if they're as prominent as people tell me, but I only speak from what other people tell me, so take that with the obligatory grain of salt.
<troll_time_o_da_month_mode=off> Generally the Meta and the Regular games are hyperbolically different. While the metagames are driven behind how you can make all of the broken cards work together vs. how you can make the broken cards your opponent uses absolutely worthlesss. There are plenty of times where a non-money broken deck can sweep past the multihundred dollar decks people make (like when somebody used Countergadgets, a deck made from a very shitty 2005 Structure deck, but replaced the crappy cards with ultimate offering, Fissure, solemn judgment and bottomless trap hole and such) and beat down all of the moneydecks that participated solely because it was unexpected and had a theme that speed and "blowshitup" alone couldn't outdo.
Because cards geared towards being blown up anyway don't care if you can destroy all monsters on the field 3 times in a row.
Generally though, people go after the brokenmultihundred dollar decks because they are new and hyped, but there are still good decks used to undo the money decks.
So it's like, everyone uses Charizard, some people use Blastoise to get rid of Charizard.
Anyway, Magic isn't that complicated if you restrict yourself to simple cards. If you just use basic lands, creatures without abilities, and simple sorceries, there's not a lot of room for confusion.
Magic has fewer cards that count as useless, especially when casual play is a factor. When a card is really bad, it's more often the case that it just has a really weird ability. Granted, there are shitty creatures with no abilities, but those have a purpose in balancing sealed games (everyone makes a deck from random packs).

Download Kaiba Corps. DuelDisk for YuGiOh and Cockatrice for MTG.
It neatly circumvents the problem of actually having to buy anything.

YuGiOh is certainly simpler.
Whether or not that is better is a matter of opinion. I like both equally well.
!
Hey someone should use the MTG card maker to turn YuGiOh cards into MTG cards for kicks.
?
I can name more MTG cards that I've seen referred to as broken than YuGiOh cards.
Granted, MTG has been around much longer.
?
What nerd rage?
Oh, speaking of.
The name of the YuGiOh online system is actually Kaiba Corps VDS. Mahbad.
Also note that both VDS and Cockatrice are very finnicky. You have to do pretty much everything manually.
