Altar of the Lost is in DKA for the same reason Shimmering Grotto was in INN: enabling you to cast those off-color flashback cards in Limited. (I may be a bit behind the curve in figuring this out, as I didn't realize this until I looked at my black and white cards last night. Maybe I should've got black-white--it wasn't quite as solid as my evasive-beaters-forever green-blue pool, but getting to use Abattoir Ghoul in conjunction with Vault of the Archangel even once would have been so worth it. But then again, Grasp of Phantoms was frequently hilarious. I think the best was using it on a land-starved opponent's Warden of the Wall--which, incidentally, turned out to be a much better card than I expected. Unless you're my opponent who wanted to cast something or at least topdeck a land or something they could use. Though using it on an early Makeshift Mauler was also good times.
Well you can't play Magic if no one around plays it. If you had a friend or two you could convince to meet with you on a regular basis, you might be able to get something going.
This thread gives the DA accounts of lots of artists, including Steve Argyle, Clint Cearly, Svetlin Velinov, Schirmer and Voss (who it turns out also do a lot of really explicit pornography) and Brad Rigney.
They're all Magic artists - Steve Argyle is the guy who did the Liliana/Chandra picture, Brad Rigney the one who did the Planeswalker's Pantheon (that big picture with all the current Planewalkers except Bolas), etc.
Because it was the only way to stop the Daleks Phyrexians.
He was going to die anyway; his addiction to blinkmoth serum had finally caught up with him, so I guess he reasoned that he might as well give his spark to Karn.
Yeah. I'm pretty sure nohaynicklibre has messed around with that meme and others like it on more than one occasion. It's listed as 5ever at KYM if you care.
^^Use Google when you're not sure what people are talking about. Actually, that should apply to you too, Idler...
I keep forgetting that this thing is even called Gatherer. It's kind of a weird name.
Still, "google it" is not the most helpful response to a question, y'know.
And for my next qusetion I actually did google it and found nothing. Is there a place where I can look at the different arts of various cards? I know, for instance, there are two functionally identical versions of Heat Ray that have different art (one with a Goblin, one with an Eldrazi Drone of some sort), but I don't know what that kind of visual reprint would be called (and Googling "mtg reprint" and related terms has not helped).
If you look at the Shards of Alara basic lands, each land has four printings; two from the shard where the colour it produces is the central one, and one from each of the other two with that colour. Which is pretty neat.
It's the side of a mountain, just at a really weird angle.
The Zendikar full art lands are neat. There's a lot to like about that block; the overpowered nature of its card was terrible, but in terms of the actual design concepts and flavour and all that it was pretty cool.
Not really. Half the Eldrazi cards have something to the effect of "summon [some amount] of Eldrazi tokens, they have 'sacrifice this creature, gain (1)' "
not worded that way of course, but you get my meaning.
It's also pretty damn expensive given how much Tropical Island apparently goes for.
I agree with Superglobe, though. Doesn't have much flavor behind it.
Pretty much my feelings in a nutshell.
Hell, I have a story for my Viashino deck. Not like, a narrative, a backstory. Which is not at all canonical given that I know zip about the *actual* Zirilan of the Claw, but still.

Also, Moonscarred Werewolf into turn 4 Kindercatch into turn 5 Moldgraf Monstrosity for the win. I didn't do that great overall, but I still placed highly enough to get three packs.)

Venser's also missing, for obvious reasons.

Speaking of Phyrexians. I have found that Machine Orthodoxy deck I scrapped together to be my most effective by far.
I think it's the Phyrexian Rebirth card, personally.
KILL EVERYTHING
SUMMON HORROR TOKEN WITH REDONKULOUS STATS

There's also this!
not sure I'd really call that a Mountain, but hey. Zendikar.

Do you mean the Eldrazi? Whatever the Aeons Torn?
Yeah. I *don't like* that card. I've played against three "serious" MTG players and they all used a deck built around summoning it.
I'm aware that there are counter-strategies, but c'mon now.
I liked the quests and the traps. Those were cool.
At least Jace is a fun card.
PSYCHIC WIZARD MAN.
I don't know much about the other two.
I dunno, I don't mind the other two of the Eldrazi big three, but Aeons Torn bothers me for some reason, he's not even interesting to look at.

There's also the deck combining her with Through the Breach.
Here is the deck in question, apparently.
I'm sure it's strategically awesome, but that's such a random hodgepodge of cards. So boring.
It's also pretty damn expensive given how much Tropical Island apparently goes for.
