Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
See I don't mind that Horse_ebooks was fake. I mind all the other shit the guys running it pulled. Lying, cheating, manipulating specific individuals...
I mean Bear Stearns Bravo isn't even all that good.

You know, for all my yammering about classes and aspects, only now does it really occur to me that seeing Nepeta in action as a Rogue of Heart would be really cool. And given that she is one of the few trolls whose powers we do not observe either directly or indirectly, I feel mildly indignant.
Speaking of which, the more characters reappear and the more royally insane this act gets, the more I think that Sollux and company are going to show up and do something important. Because honestly, at this point, would you really be surprised?
You know, it's kind of funny to see Aranea totally misjudge Dirk's abilities despite spending years studying others and honing her own powers to perfection. It's just so arrogant. It also has a certain resonance with how Vriska got herself killed by Terezi's hand.
Actually, it makes perfect sense. If you recall...
ARANEA: Where did you come from? ARANEA: I did not sense your approach. DIRK: You can't sense what ain't real. ARANEA: 8n't real? ARANEA: It seems to me that you are quite real, Dirk. DIRK: That's because my buddy Jake just helped me become a whole hell of a lot less fake. DIRK: You see, DIRK: He believes in me. ARANEA: Hmm. ARANEA: Honestly, Dirk. The convers8tion we are having right now 8ears a striking resem8lance to a8solute nonsense. ARANEA: I recall once your dream self appeared out of thin air, just as you have done now. ARANEA: And I did you the favor of helping you on your way. Don't you remem8er?
She didn't misjudge Dirk's abilities. She probably knows exactly what Dirk can do; she just didn't realize that this isn't Dirk.
I think this scene would have been better placed right after Aranea did the ring-stealy thing (rather than being another digression from the hope ball), but yeah, this is basically all I've ever wanted out of Vriska.
Rereadinig the interview. This sticks out in particular:
Homestuck kind of took a while to accumulate honest-to-god haters. It’s probably for the exact same reason there aren’t a lot of true “mehs” out there. It seems that most of the haters have entered the hatedom through their antipathy toward the fans. People’s irritation and loathing for the fandom’s antics always seems to exacerbate any slight dislike of the story they have, and is really often a catalyst that transmutes “meh” into full blown hate, for all things Homestuck no matter how irrational or petty. Like… these idiots are wearing gray makeup, I’m so pissed, let me just load up MSPA so I can confirm and then rave about how bad this thing is. Oh god I was right ALL THESE JOKES SUCK!
I think those bother me a lot less because they’re so patently irrational. The ones that are more frustrating tend to be the kind of haters who once seemed like they were into it at some point, but one thing or another soured them on it and now all of a sudden the whole thing is crap, as if they previously were an unreliable witness of content. I guess this is really something at the heart of haterism that is almost unavoidable for any work. It takes time to deliver anything, and for it to blossom into whatever it’s going to become and to reveal its true statements. That almost always takes years, so it’s a natural race against people’s attention spans, or even just the inscrutably shifting terrain of their preferences. There are always going to be things that people will want a story to become, and those preferences always vary, so the story is always gonna cross some people no matter what it does.
Where frustration as a creator comes into play is the factors that exist outside of the pure text are almost never acknowledged, like rate of delivery and shift of personal perspective. The hater always demands absolute acknowledgement of the text’s intrinsic flaws, and there are no factors whatsoever on the other side of the fence. As if a story is nothing but raw data to be deconstructed, and not actually a million different stories that come to life within a million different vehicles of consciousness.
By the way, after the story ends once and for all, I have decided that I will re-read the entirety of Homestuck from the beginning and possibly return to the old liveblog thread with any new musings that I might have. Self-indulgent, yes, but I prefer experiencing this comic as a whole piece and blathering about it is fun.
I never would have thought that watching someone get stabbed repeatedly would actually make me feel bad for the person doing the stabbing. And this time around, it's not really even Gamzee's fault. Yes, his behaviour inspired Terezi's fury, but the rest isn't really within his control. Just...

I know I'd be interested in reading your thoughts, and I'll probably reread the whole thing myself (without any liveblogging). Considering how Hussie said he's writing for the archive readers, we'll have to read the whole thing in as few sittings as possible in order to properly evaluate "Did we waste all that time or not?"
I was archive-reading up to Act 6 Act 6, and I really liked how it moved along. The only part that felt the least bit draggy was Openbound, and even then I did not dislike the pace so much as find the characters excessively silly.
