So, something made me reread the section around "[S] 3x SHOWDOWN COMBO" and, damn, I'd forgotten precisely how badass Kanaya is. It's not just that she interrupted a Mexican standoff by demolishing the participants, or even only that she is a vampire with a chainsaw, but she kills the guy who killed her, brutally, and then uses his blood as her lipstick.

Yeah, it looks like Roxy is "sleepwalking" into the middle of everyone's dreams. No idea how it happened or how Karkat could possibly have gotten the tiger--this is probably in the meteor crew's future, relative to the last time we saw them.

Two word answer to FAQ “I don’t get it”: dream bubble.
I probably wouldn’t have even bothered with the animation if I didn’t make the little SOPA blackout animation that preceded it. Once that was there it just seemed like a good springboard for a bigger animation. Otherwise I probably would have just made a few static panels, and likely not conveyed nearly as much.
And I only came up with the idea for the SOPA blackout flash-redirect on the same day it was posted.

Spoilers:

Four kids play a game that manipulates the physical world and transports them to distant worlds while the Earth is destroyed. The game and how they play it is responsible for destroying the world, and creating both them and their genetic parents, and placing them in their proper point in the timeline via time travel. There is another universe that contains aliens that they keep in contact with who have created their universe by playing the game through to the end. Some shit goes wrong with the game, forcing them all to do some weird shit and create a parallel universe where the kids' parents are their children and vice versa, which is something the alien universe had already done. Right now we're watching the children who were the parents in the original universe and seeing them prepare to start their instance of the game.

I would say it's because having two copies of the beta kids around would cause a PIME TARADOX, but then, seeing that Dave and Aradia both had several copies of themselves running around at various times, that's kind of a dumb reason.

Also, I watched Back to the Future Part II the other night, and couldn't stop thinking of Homestuck's time shenanigans. Make of this what you will.

Also, another thought: I'm wondering if anyone who's played Sburb has ever won. The trolls had to scratch their session, and then were stopped by Jack Noir. The kids just scratched their session, but were able to escape. While we don't know yet who created the trolls' universe, I wouldn't be surprised if they had to scratch as well, and were kept from the ultimate reward by a demon.

As for why all this rigamarole? Politics of some sort in the Furthest Ring, I bet, a civil war that was told in allegory by the Midnight Crew intermission and the Squiddles! album.

As for where Sburb came from, I wouldn't be surprised if it was glubbed by frog gods, or if its own existence (like so much else in Homestuck) depends on a stable time loop, or something.
