I always just imagined it as a bunch of people hanging out in the park with glow sticks and blinking LED tat

Also there's a DJ, because why not

ngl part of the reason I quit watching South Park is because the show got really violent, and the show's violence/gore was rendered in a realistic manner incongruous with the actual character designs

it was creepy as shit and I'm a bit surprised more people don't mention that

As much as I like SVTFOE I do think it would have been interesting to see a cartoon based on the original concept

Because, let's face it, little girl PRETENDING to be a magic princess is still a very Central Avenue premise for a show

I would like to look that cute, too.

On the note of South Park, I've always kinda found the "crude cardboard cutouts animated via the most advanced computer technology we could buy" contrast vaguely offputting. I realize that using computer technology is for the sake of production efficiency, but still...

i wasn't allowed to watch South Park when i was a kid, and i didn't want to anyway, i found the language and sex and gore appalling

but all my classmates watched it and quoted it all the time, so i was really lame for not watching it

my parents initially tried to discourage me from watching the Simpsons, but my dad ended up liking it himself

the Simpsons wasn't so popular at my school, not enough swearing i guess

the right course of action is to feel annoyed that they're quoting it all the time, rather than be ashamed that your'e lacking something yourself for not having seen it merely because others have
  • My dreams exceed my real life
Well I didn't really care about what my classmates like.

But I did care about what the people who made the internet entertainment I watched liked, and The Simpsons was their bible.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
that was, in fact, the course of action i took

good job 9 year old me i guess
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
really at the time there was no way i'd feel ashamed of not watching a show with so many bad words in it

actually i felt the people who watched it should be ashamed

My parents were young 20-somethings when I was a little kid so of course they loved The Simpsons and let me watch it with them

'90s Simpsons is relatively tame by modern standards but even so, it amuses me that my mother of all people had no problem with her 3-year-old sitting on the couch with her watching it

and if we ever have kids we'll be showing them the old Hanna-Barbera shorts

    right
  • dont force your tastes on your kids
  • if i ever have children i'm going to grow them up on some good platformers and action games

like the NES and SNES mario games, mutant mudds, gurumin, etc.

then later introduce metroidvanias and JRPGs

    I don't see why not
  • i wonder what it'd be like if i told my child that he/she would have to be certain levels to unlock access to certain things, wherein "level" means "age"
