  It is correct to say that when I am playing a game with savestates, infinite lives cheat, etc., I am not playing the original game.
  
  I am basically playing a mod.  And my play experience is different from that of others, as would be expected from any mod.
  
  Should I be okay with this?  That should be based on whether I'm enjoying the experience I get.

  If I want to compare my performance at a game to others', then obviously I should play the same game, with the same modifications (or no modifications at all as the case commonly is).
  
  But I don't want to.  I don't care to.  My enjoyment of the game is not derived from comparing myself to other players.  My enjoyment of the game is derived solely from my relationship with the game experience, and is (except in the case of multiplayer) unrelated to the relationship that other people have with their game experiences.
  
  I have no desire to "git gud", unless I want to.  If you tell me to git gud when I don't want to, you can shove it.  I will git gud if I want to, when I want to.
