That's the power of marketing! Gotta keep up with the latest trends.
eh. I'm usually the first to leap to the defense of pop music, but I think "#Selfie" is legitimately annoying.
Also, the weird thing about that song is that the group behind it is A) called The Chainsmokers and B) quite clearly a decade or so older--at least--than the demographic that likes to say "hashtag" out loud and use the word selfie.
Yes, it has kind of a cynical undertone, that's true. It's very of-the-moment, a little too self-consciously so. In that sense, it epitomizes the excesses of 2014.
In two years time, if we remember it at all, we'll look back on it and laugh - or cringe. In the meantime, i could cheerfully dance to it. Which is to say, could cheerfully flail about awkwardly in a characteristically white manner.

I like #Selfie and love both LRAD and Satisfaction (enough to consider them to be two of my favorites by their respective acts)
maybe it's a sign of the times
It's OK to disagree with other heapers about music, y'know!
although i'm not as into the Stones as i think i'm supposed to be; they're one of those old rock bands everyone seems to love
but i always preferred the Kinks and the Who to the Rolling Stones
