  First off: Is it me, or is the typeface on this cover the direct inspiration for Maple?

  Also, recently I learned that the British designer Jan Tschichold was behind much of Penguin's design philosophy, including updating the iconic orange-and-white covers

  But I admit to being a bigger fan of what Germano Facetti did at Penguin. The classic covers are appealing, but they don't say anything about the books, beyond the color-coded genre system.
