I liked Redwall when I was younger. Aside from the blatant plot recycling in the later books it was a good series.
I was completely fine with the plot recycling, the white-and-black morality, and all that. I loved the simplicity, no need for shades of grey (or at least, not very many). Absolutely good guys and absolutely bad guys.
As for the plot, I'm the sort of person who finds jokes funny every time if I find them funny the first time. So what if it's always the same exact story with the names changed? I like that story.
I know it's morally simplistic, and the plot is recycled, but dang it if I don't love it.
Eric was a short, distinctive name that my parents could agree on. My father got it partially from Erik the Red/Leif Ericson, and partially from Eric Clapton.

Did I answer it right?
