to be fair, where i live, in london, the affluent people who shop at whole foods market and buy those sorts of books and go to shows at café OTO (as cool as cafe OTO is...) tend to be white guys with japanese girlfriends. always japanese girlfriends. and they''re never married, always just together. and im not using japanese as a blanket term for people from the far east, it is almost always japanese. sometimes korean. never chinese (or rarely)

Last time we visited Seattle, we walked into a bookstore and it turned out to be entirely new age. If it had been inside an organic food store, it would have been so perfectly Seattle.
