Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
So here's an example of an adventure.
"Joyce Dejo is visited by the rejuvenated Hard Place, an old family friend and comrade-in-arms with her late grandmother, Jordan. Unfortunately, Hard Place reveals himself as a Corpse, and seeks to eliminate Joyce as a threat. With the help of Dusk's speed, Joyce manages to out-trick and out-maneuver the much-stronger and nigh-immortal Hard Place into a disadvantageous position."
Phase Aspect: The Next Words Out Of Your Mouth Are Going To Be...
[+] Joyce has honed the trick that allows her to correctly predict her enemy's actions to a science.
[+] Joyce is a really annoying opponent.
[-] Unfortunately, sometimes Joyce is wrong. And when she's wrong she gets flustered easily.
The pluses and minuses aren't vital, but they help you keep track what kind of fictional benefits and drawbacks an aspect might have.
I'm gonna need a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot of help with this.
We already talked about a few things I wanted out of my character, Kraken, but this is a rather complicated framing and I don't know how to make it work.
Ideally, I'd like Akemi to have gone from a wannabe hero to an actual archetypal hero by now, but again, this system is kinda odd.
So, I'm going to be dropping out of this RP (for a couple reasons, I want to have time to pursue my own while also doing school when Christmas Break ends, and I'm very confused by this game system so far. Don't want to be the guy going "huhhhh? I don't geeeeet it :(" every time we do something). I apologize, and best of luck in finding a replacement player (a replaceyer?).
"Ma Zhi's contacted by two members of the Red Stampede, a somewhat famous bodyguard outfit among the Wulin. They offer him a trial run, allowing him to accompany them on their mission: to escort a young girl to the Manchurian headquarters. When they're confronted by the Black Eagles, a rival outfit hired to capture the girl, he puts himself between one of the Eagles and a fallen Steed. The Eagle, unwilling to kill a boy, spares their lives. The Eagles eventually get away with the girl, forcing the Steeds to abandon Zhi to take chase, but Zhi leaves a good impression on both outfits."
Phase Aspect: You'll Have to Go Through Me.
[+] Zhi is able to use his rapport to discourage enemies from pursuing other characters
[-] Zhi will not move from that spot until the enemy either disengages or falls.

Vessels are interesting because while you have a bunch of potent powers available, you need to transform your very self to access it. And that makes you somewhat more vulnerable.

A bunch of ways.
Get into one of those hardcore shamanic mystery cults, where they leave you somewhere beaten half to death, decked out in appealing finery, bearing gifts and with a bunch of lines memorized for a god to find.
Practice just as hardcore asceticism and discipline to impress a god (like how Hiranyakashipu or Ravana got some of their powers).
Or just like live your whole life with a soul frequency that matches some god somewhere, and either search your entire life for them or just have circumstance throw them into your path.
Thousand Swords Sect. Daredevils, illusionary duelists, as well as any and all swordsmen. They revive and preserve all sword traditions.
Rishi. Indian sages, priests, brahmin. They model themselves after the heroes of the Mahabharata.
Societies have a specific agenda that relates to the mortal world.
Beggar Society. Part Underground Railroad, part intelligence agency. Consists of people who pose as rich, middle class, and poor. They fight for social change.
Akasha Institute. Librarians, archivists, and recorders. They store mundane and supernatural knowledge for mysterious reasons.
Brights Sparks Society. Mad scientists, inventors, and tinkerers. They are trying to study and replicate the effects of sorcery. Use big ridiculous rigs with their martial arts.
Eternal Spring Sect. Daoist Tai Chi masters, astrologers, and health professionals. They work to bring more people receptive to the supernatural.
North Wind Navigators. Adventurers, explorers, and trailblazers. They traverse the harshest environments to find the worst monsters in the world.

Dissidents are a loose grouping of factions that do their own things, sitting on the fence between acceptable and unrighteous.
Black Eagle Escorts. Bodyguards, cargo guards, professional soldiers. Mercenaries who will protect anyone to the death, if you meet the price. (Yarrun's character is in a similar Outfit that opposes them)
Leviathan. Survivalists and emulators of the beasts. They protect the animal kingdom from the monsters that would eat their bones and power by violently attacking poachers and hunters.
Hell Hunters. The vengeful and the angry. They help each other enact personal vendettas and right wrongs with spilled blood.
Troubadours. Travellers, musicians, historians. They record the deeds of the Underworld and duel with each other a lot.
Water Moon House. Assassins, thieves, and contract killers. They will kill anyone, for a price. Also they used to serve the Qing Emperor.
Blights are considered to be the most unrighteous of the factions, and face mistrust on every side. Whether these views are true or not remains to be seen.
Blissful Fists. Aristocrats, sybarites, and the affluent. Old boy's network that nobody likes.
Post-Mortem Operations. Surgeons, morticians, and coroners. Modern incarnation of a ritual cannibal cult. They want to learn how Wushu works by carving Artisan corpses, implanting their organs and muscles into their own bodies.
Silver Coin Syndicate. Economists, merchants, and businessmen. They have a strange fascination with money, and have some plans regarding the world economy. Also, everybody owes them something, be it money or favors.
Nine Unknown. A mammoth, worldwide conspiracy. Rumored to have originated in India. A shadow's shadow. They steal or help other factions for inexplicable reasons. Not even their own operatives know what's really going on.
I wouldn't say that Zhi's officially in said outfit (i.e. the Red Stampede). He's more of a freelancer that they call in when it's convenient for them. But he doesn't exactly have any other affiliations, and his wushu's based on their wushu, so yeah, he might as well be in it.

there's been a timeskip, right?
why didn't we just go looking for these people as soon as Akemi and Hao Qieting regained consciousness?
then i vote we did that
