Mo is doing the thing again where he proposes something but has little idea how to do so.
Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone had any interest in GMing a play-by-post Heapers' Hangout game (a session game on an IRC channel could be set up too I guess, but I wouldn't know how to do that).
Pretty much everything is open at this point, I'm personally just looking to get into the game and have no particular preferences re: editions, etc. I do sort of have a character cooked up, but that's irrelevant here, mostly.
I was also thinking it'd probably be start to, at least to start, do a single adventure as opposed to a longer campaign, to see how it pans out.
Suggestions etc. are very welcome, but this is mostly a general interest check.

Hold on a moment while I dig it up.
Ludmila "Ludmi" Ingosi, "Malefic Swamp Witch, Daughter of Ura Baba, Eighth Heir to the Wooden Throne"
Human Wizard, Neutral.
Equipment
⦁ Staff & attached Incense Vessel
⦁ Dagger
⦁ Robes & Hat
⦁ The Great Swamp Grimoire (spellbook)
⦁ A large pipe
⦁ a number of spent magical baubles.
Ludmila is a talented, rather conceited witch from the swamplands. She traveled to the cities on a quest for personal power, knowing it was at best unlikely she'd inherit the position of her mother (the aging swamp duchess Ura "Baba" Ingosi), and content to let her older sisters squabble for the succession. Ludmila learned magic--particularly, curses and attack magics--from her mother at a young age, and now seeks her fortune amongst the adventurers of the world. Ludmila is by far the least powerful of Ura Baba's eight children, and generally avoids the swamplands (and their wrath, as their alignments range from Lawful Good to Chaotic Evil) at all costs nowadays.
Ludmila puts the livelihood of herself and anyone she consideres a friend first and foremost, things like ethics and morality are a distant trailing second to her despite her not being evil, and as such, she is squarely neutral. Ludmila is not particularly religious, although she believes in the gods and has what can be described as a distant reverence for Wee Jas.
The Great Swamp Grimoire is an oversized spellbook (as well as a geneology of the Ingosi family, a short history of how Ura Baba came to power, and a life advice book, amongst many other things) written in a Common-Draconic pidgin called The Ingosi Cypher. There are nine copies of the book, Ura Baba's own, and the eight she gave to each of her daughters, including Ludmila. Ludmila's is the most heavily annotated, containing more efficient methods of casting certain spells, revisions, and roughly a hundred entirely new pages. The Grimoire itself also quotes large passages from other spellbooks, including The Black Pullet, The Grand Grimoire (aka The Book of the Red Dragon), The Book of The Shrieking Owl, and there is even an unsourced passage attributed to the great Magician Al-Hazred.
The Grimoire is further subdivided into The Ingosi Family Geneology (which is historically accurate for seven generations before it begins interweaving myth and reality), The Wooden Throne, an epic poem about Ura Baba's rise to power in the swamplands, The Book of Etiquette & Rulership, a section containing advice on everything from how to dress well for formal occaisons to how to properly blackmail another individual, The Book of Pyromancy, which deals (despite the name) with offensive spells of all types, and lastly, The Book of The Hexenmeister, which deals with curses. The Grimoire is also cursed, in the hands of a non-Ingosi family member, although no details of said curse are known.
I will be a wizard if no one else wants to be, and a weird warlock if someone else does.
Can I be a warlock and just have the spellbook for flavor reasons?
I myself am more used to 3.5 but that is reeeeeeeeeeeallllllly not saying much, and I think I'm actually liking 4e a little better as I read the the handbook.
Is it okay to wait for more info on the setting before I start fleshing out a character?

Also, no dark elves?
Also Bunny wants to play a Bard and I have a Warlock mostly done.

I had proposed we do just one adventure to see how things shake out before committing to a longer campaign, if it doesn't work out we can try something else.
