well I didn't have the Quelaag's Sister storyline spoilered for me (unlike almost everything else in the game) and I kind of feel like a massive fuck right now.
I have but the main problem is that the enemies don't seem to behave the same way for me as they do in every video I've watched so far. Namely, the right knight doesn't ever put his bow away, he just keeps shooting until I fall off the edge.

Ayup, I've had that happen.
AI in Dark Souls is pretty deterministic or so I've heard. There has to be something different you're doing at times when he puts away his bow and times when he takes out his sword.
Wouldn't know where to get one. Those are the only two shields I have aside from the Silver Knight Shield that I just picked up a second ago and the Black Iron Shield which takes eighty years to lift.

Silver Knight Shield is actually probably the best shield in the game. You were lucky to pick it up so early.

I will equip it then. Any good upgrade paths other than just the standard one?
Or that might be my stream character where some lady just like, found some in the one tower in Undeadburg. Let me check.
also I have a ton of souls and no idea what to do with them. I'm wary of just upgrading my stats because I feel overleveled just on a hunch (I'm at 40something) and my Manserpent Greatsword is already at +10.

You can bank them for later by buying a bunch of dung pies from the Female Undead Merchant.
They sell to Peter Frampton for exactly as much as they cost.
is there a shortcut somewhere? I don't have an easy way to get back to Firelink.
In fact, as far as I can tell, the only way for me to get back to Firelink currently is via going back through that archers section and then through Sen's Fortress again.

There are a few shortcuts, but it's not worth going back.
Maybe find the Giant Blacksmith in Anor Londo and buy some Titanite shards of various kinds from him.
well I've got lots of Titanite, my plan was to make my Greatsword a lightning weapon and forge that one shield you can get from the Moonlight Butterfly. Mostly just to have more than any practical reason.
Possibly also get the Golem Core Axe later if it's good. Where is the smith anyway?
also is there any half-decent way to get humanity around here? Because I have literally none.

Nope.
He's on the other side of the entrance to the big cathredral room in Anor Londo, right before the boss, iirc.

Not really, it just does a fuckton of damage.
You can survive it.
Weird.
Also Snakepeople have abnormally high physical resistance.
Frampton is your new god, and you will respect him.
I think you can get more souls feeding it to Peter Frampton than you can from using it, incidentally.
Just keep it as is.

I think I've been killing the wrong one.
The one you're supposed to kill doesn't respawn.
Try parrying the rightmost archer. Or just letting him hit your shield until he bounces back into the gap.
If all else fails, look up how to get the ring of fog, then buy some poison arrows and a bow and cheese it that way.

At least I think so.
Great Chaos Fireball works ok if you can time it right, ftr.
also, where the fuck do I go now.
