That strip definitely is pretty funny, but the average enjoyability of each page is quite a bit below the average Johnny Wander.
Some of that is simply the genre and pacing things more like a graphic novel than a web-comic. Honestly though, I simply find Penny less entertaining than strips about Yuko, Anath, cats, and crew.
K'seliss: Oh for the love of meat, SHUT UP! No one wants to hear your emo character background! My hands are LITERALLY melting away and I'm complaining less than you are!
I thought it was a bit anti-climactic at first, but then I realized that this was how it had to go. Psi-Max needed Original Minmax to be alive and have hands in order to re-summon Oblivious. Considering that Minmax doesn't know the meaning of giving up (or, well, the meaning to a lot of things), it was inevitable that Psi-Max would run out of energy and get strangled or something. Still a bit anticlimactic though.
I did appreciate how Goblins used that brick joke.
As for OOTS, Is it wrong that in the last fight between Thog and Roy, I was rooting for Thog the whole time, especially as Roy taunted him about stealing the food of puppies, hating puppies, making puppies feel bad about themselves?

Goblins:
I agree it's a tad anti-climatic, though it was interesting getting up to this point. Though the encounter with 38 wasn't enough to take out psionic Minmax, I think it shock him up a little. Before he had to deal with a several attackers focusing on him, he was keeping Minmax at a distance, making it impossible for Minmax to realistically be able to harm him. Finding out that his weakness was exposed and that others had the ability to change it also seemed to create a bit of a feeling of urgency. He also probably assumed this Minmax was mostly harmless without a weapon, he hadn't seen Minmax take anyone out with his bare hands.
I think what did him in was a combination of getting close to Minmax and not knowing the crazy amount of pressure Minmax could apply with his thumb. His shield could deflect just about anything, but wasn't made to deal with an unrelenting attacking at a single point. Hence it broke, it and turns out Minmax can crush skulls with his thumb.
I agree this could have gone down a little different to be a tad more entertaining, but an interesting turn of events.
After seeing Zersk post it a little while back, I have started reading Paranatural as a breather from marathoning Homestuck. The artist has clearly taken a lot of influence from things like FLCL, but it works. I like it.
That was actually a thing that I got from Tvtropes. Cross-checking from different sources has its advantages. Would like to say that it was my own ingenuity that found it, but honesty comes first.
I just remembered that I read the first third of Gunnerkrigg Court in one go a couple of weeks ago. I shall get back to that soon. It was really good. The early art was bizarre, though.
Also, something I forgot about completely but just had a revelation about: The God Tier mechanics in Homestuck are pretty much identical to how the main trio become their imaginary selves in Problem Sleuth. I never noticed that before.
ijbm when commenters on Gunnerkrigg Court complain that Kat is out of character for being attracted to someone of a different gender from those she was attracted to in earlier chapters
like every character must only be attracted to people of one gender, ever, in their entire life, even if they're a teenager

Man, attraction in Gunnerkrigg Court? Romance and stuff? Bleh.
I want to read about Coyote, the mysterious being that is Jones, I'd kind of like to learn what happened with Jeanne and Diego, I want to learn about the history of the forest and the court, and the mysterious past of, well, everything in this kudzu plot I stopped reading a few years ago {chapter 30, the epic call-back. You know the one. Yeah. That one}. I don't want to read about hormonal teenagers.
11 pages into the average Gunnerkrigg chapter and you'll already be knee-deep in plot.
I understand the need to make a chapter that's different. It's just that the last chapter was already kind of light on the main plot, and this one's practically wafer-thin. You need to stagger this kind of stuff.

it's not Shouri's fault, her cat is ill and her tablet is broken, but it's still frustrating since it was on hiatus for so long before

but Tom likes to do something different every once in a while; i don't think this represents a dramatic change in genre or tone
equally, it's not like the story preceding this chapter was devoid of romance, either
