2008 feels way more recent to me now than 1998 did then

And people say things like "it's hard to believe now, but Iron Man wasn't a very well-known/popular character before 2008" (also Thor and Captain America before 2011, the Guardians of the Galaxy before 2014), or reviews of Civil War treating the then-eight-year-old MCU as though it was a decades-old tradition

Are people's memories that short?

    There are people who weren't born when Iron Man came out who are old enough to be watching Marvel movies now.

    So, the short answer is: yes.

    1998 was, I dunno, a couple months ago

    1988 was ages ago, dimly recalled
