Also I might or might not attempt working on that EP again. Ableton's actually seeming like it'll be a good way for me to make the kind of music I've wanted to for a while now, the only downside is how steep its learning curve is for beginners.
Still. If there is anything worth putting out, I'll do so.
Yeah, Salt Flats probably won't be out for awhile.
There are two primary reasons for that, one is that I want to take my time with this one and make each track sound good.
Another is that there are some people I want to work with, both folks I know personally (Minnie Gunn and Joey Matt diPeri for example) and sort-of-but-not-really "famous" friends of friends of friends of friends (eg. Wiki). Not really holding my breath on either of those fronts, but it's something I want to at least put the effort into trying.
i like the second half of this a lot but it feels like a transitional thing as much as a beat to actually base something around. still i feel this is a for real improvement on the other stuff that i have heard from you
it feels like something that would be a short section between two major sections of a song, say, a little thing between a chorus and a bridge or something like that.
Yeah. I might see if I can't up the volume of the beat a bit just so it sounds a bit more even. Cel-Man seems to have a really powerful mic, I don't know where he got something that studio quality from.
ALSO, we're dropping new versions of "Hollow Earth Radio" and "Some Kill 2" at the very least at some point. I don't know when that'll be or in what form though.
there are going to be vocals over it eventually? ^_^;
might well work better with vocals over it - that is my opinion of it as an instrumental at least but i do like it a lot!!! and think it will sound good with vocals. like this does:
HEY. HEY GUYS. HEY. HEY GUYS LISTEN TO THIS LISTEN TO THIS LISTEN TO THIS.
That Cel-Man Iller dude and his friend Immortal rapped over my old Thy Phantom production, check it out. It's really, really cool.
I am so so so so psyched.
totally works cool. i like this. it's not super perfect but it is good stuff for real, you have improved and im happy to see that people are picking your tunes for stuff like this
its actually really interesting to hear some of your stuff with vocals on it. a lot of the time i feel there is 'something missing' but here im not getting that - maybe it is just that it needs those vocals, because man, this works. it really does. the vocals are a bit heavy in the mix and the effects on them could be polished up but it is really sounding good.
Cel-Man is a really freaking cool dude. I recommend you check out his mixtape on bandcamp. Obviously it's a bit hard to listen to all of it because it's like 100some songs. But yeah, he's good and he works fast as fuck. I gave him that beat yesterday.
I also was aware of the vocals being a bit heavy, but I think I know a way to fix that and I might polish it up for the official single release.
I hope I can do more with the guy, but even if these three songs are all we do I think it's really great to have what's basically a resume builder like this.
I was kinda thinking maybe split the drums (I don't know how easy it is to tell, but there are two main percussion lines, one's the cut-up break, the other's some drum pack stuff and it's not nearly as heavy) and use the break for the second riff and the drum pack stuff for the first? I'm not honestly sure.
Also if any of you guys know of any good vocal sample sources, that'd be fuckawesome.

First one seems more characteristic of you. That's all I can really say.
Alright, widget won't show up on my computer, so I guess I'm linking everything.
This is what I'm working on now. It's about done, but the ending doesn't sound like an ending. Thinking of adding a vocal sample to it, but I haven't figured out what I'll be using. Also, there's this A4 sound that keeps playing after it should have stopped near the ending. Need to figure out how to fix that.
This is a Touhou theme that I copied without meaning to. Used it to experiment with making different beats.
This is...well...experimental. Let's just say that.
Comments
Yeah sorry about that Y_Y
that was mostly just a matter of me scrapping that album entirely. But I think it fits thematically on LotSF
Also, another thing I wondered a bit about: did Orion Pax get canned or is it on the back burner till LotSF comes out or what?
Orion's release is just a matter of getting the damn thing off my old laptop.
That'll actually probably be out long before Salt Flats.

edit: eh nevermind
Every once in awhile, I'll have a eureka moment where something just clicks.
Today, it was when I realized that a song I was working on would sync up perfectly with a certain 90's one-hit wonder's signature song.
Guess what I'm sampling? |:3
also that video is....weird.
This is now a thing that is a thing.
Note the notes.
current hypothetical tracklist is be-low, tentative titles are marked with an*
1. Return to The Burning Desert / Life on the Salt Flats
2 . Standing Blind in Giza....& The Tape Cuts Out
3. El Acid Mojave (feat. Cel-Man Iller)*
4. You Gonna Be OK, Dude?
5. A Legacy of Dust in the Temple of Light (feat. Tre Stuck)
6. The Return of the Evil Doctor Screwtape
7. Some Kill (feat. Cel-Man Iller)*
8. Starbound Signalbeam*
You guys should legitimately listen to this, it's the best thing I think I've done in awhile.
also I changed my production name again in case you couldn't tell.
input?
iiiiinput?
oh-k.
even just a like, thumbs up or down would be good. Only person I've gotten feedback from liked it but his screenname is Dr Derper, so...yeah.
in an ironic twist, i cant listen to your song that samples earth for a while because i am busy listening to earth
not sure what you mean by transitional thing, tbh
do you mean it sounds more like an interlude than a full track? I'm not sure I follow.
I see.
uh

where are those snares from, btw.
Here is the official single release of Thy Phantom (Time Traveler)
also there's a picture of Cel-Man in the corner if any of you were dying to see what he looked like.
I WILL BE DELETING MY ENTIRE BACK-CATALOG SOMETIME IN JANUARY OF NEXT YEAR.
IF THERE'S ANYTHING ON MY BANDCAMP YOU WANT, GO GRAB IT NOW.
here is the track order and sample listings for the first four songs on LoTSF, subject to change of course, but just for fun.

2. Time Traveler (Thy Phantom) [feat. Cel-Man Iller & Tha Immortal]
3. Standing Blind in Giza & The Tape Cuts Out

suggestions welcome.
GUYS I NEED ADVICE
I came up with two pretty cool riffs that both work on the same drum break, but the problem is that they don't work with each other in the slightest.
So I don't know which one to use, nor what to do with the one I don't use.
Link.
