I am uploading AiLF2 today. It is in fact uploading right now.
I think I'm done with the AiLF name though. I do expect future projects will be of a similar mini-album nature, but I'm not calling any more of them Adventures in Low Fidelity.
Truth is, you simply can't erase vocals from a song most of the time. If it's older and is a split stereo (that is, vocals on one side, instruments on the other) then you can, and sometimes you'll get lucky with that technique, but most often what that leaves you is a song with vocals that are still there just extremely watery sounding.
Totally serious question. I want a sepia empire to have a strong post-rock influence, and while I can make the skeleton of the sound using just samples, I'd prefer to have session musicians to help me fill it out.
I'm flexible with deadlines and sound quality (I can usually improve that fairly simply). The recordings will be credited to both "A Sepia Empire" as a group, and each individual will be given track-by-track credits as well.
I wouldn't call anything that I play rock, or even anything related to rock. Your best bet would probably be Imipolex or Sunshine Werewolf (that is, if you can even reach him)
Ended up listening to the entire thing. Out of spite.
So, post-rock is like minimalist shoegaze. I guess I might be able to get a sound close to that with my saxophone. You probably should still ask Imi and Sunny, just in case post-rock appeals to them.
Okay, so I found this app called Figure for my iPod that is basically full of Reason synths, but easy enough to use that a caveman like me who uses GarageBand would be able to make it work.
It's kind of awesome, but the thing that sucks about it is that there's no way to export your beats, and the record feature is limited to two bars.
So now, the challenge is finding a way to export iPod sound into a different source. The headphone jack might be able to do it but I dunno if GarageBand (or FL Studio) will be able to get sound from it...
No idea what it'll be quite like yet, but expect an electro house influence. I can say that I am not repeating the D76 sound though, I'm trying to move on from that with this project.
Details whenever I get around to doing newsworthy things.
So, my band may finally get around to recording soon, which should be interesting. First song on our itinerary: Two songs I wrote a while ago, each of which I invisioned as the result of an unlikely imaginary pairing of electronic(ish) outfits—LCD Soundsystem meets Cabaret Voltaire and HEALTH meets Shackleton respectively—as covered on primarily acoustic instruments.
Don't question my logic. I've already done that; it provides no answers.
The drums are ok, could use some tidying up, and the sample at the beginning is too repetitive, as is that one crash, try using a few different samples and switching between them there.
I'm working on some new stuffs, might post tomorrow.

i can do this music thing too
(Yes, I am aware it sucks)
What I'm having trouble with, mostly, is the ending also.
This.
Adventures in Low Fidelity vol. 2 will be coming out uh
soonish.
Yoooooooooooo

Yeah.
That doesn't usually work too well.

Thanks for the advice, both of you.
who wants to help me make a post-rock album.

post-rock isn't rock though.
That's like
why it's called post-rock.

I don't think Imipolex plays an instrument?
I will ask Sunshine, though.
My sound for this album is a tad more...compressed, but otherwise similar.

Does he?
Huh. I never knew that.
so I got bored today and resurrected the Chime Bell alias to make this. It's a neat little ditty.

^ I particularly like this one, Lazuli. Very bouncy.

There's also a few other new ones, if you're willing to search through my profile.

coolbeans.
Skullboy will finally have something to put out while I've put my music career on hold.
zooooooooom.
Behold my first, honestly quite mediocre, and not even finished work made fully in FL Studio.
The only thing I did here in Audacity was cut the drums out and save them as samples.
Well, thanks I guess but I was hoping for a bit of feedback regarding what exactly to do with it.
I kind of think the vocal sample is corny, but am not sure what to replace it with.
I'm working on some new stuffs, might post tomorrow.
I actually did just add one. I will add more though.
By "crash" you mean the hi-hat right?
I'm considering replacing some of those hi-hats with another, different hi-hat I have, but am not sure how to go about doing that.
And by the sample at the beginning do you mean the drums, the horns, or both?
nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnoted.
And I think fixed. Hopefully.
sounds good so far to my ears, Tre.
In other news.
I've spent the better part of the day fiddling around in FL Studio, and this is the result of said fiddling (and three drafts).
Feedback is welcome, but I am powerless to act on it until I manage to crack FL, since as I have only the free version, I cannot re-open projects.
Personally I think it's a bit of an improvement from "Renegades" but what do I know.
I do think it drags a bit, though.
