^^^^ Much of the fandom contingent on Tumblr acts as if everyone is as full of passion over trivial things as they are. Which is fair if they are a purely fandom-focused blog—certain audiences expect certain things—but not if they are more wide-ranging in their interests. But so it goes.

That started during the Davies era (I think), and it was only really prevalent during Rose Tyler's time as companion (Martha's feelings for the Doctor were one-sided, Donna was not romantically involved with him, Amy wound up marrying Rory and I don't think the Doctor or Clara had feelings for each other)

But he's basically a creator who's kind of sexist and doesn't really know how to treat the QLTGBA, particularly the A and B bits. He wouldn't be notable if he was on a lower-rung, but he's in charge of two sections of of the Superwholock continuum, which means that his screw-ups have wide-reaching effects and Tumblr hates him because of that.
Also, his take on the Doctor is apparently less appreciative of humanity on a whole, tending to favor people with weird mysteries surrounding them instead of favoring people for who they are. Which also feeds into his issues with the fairer sex.
I don't have a personal opinion on him, as I've only touched on the Davis era of New Who, but I do know that he screwed up one of the only notable female characters in the Sherlock canon, which is a cardinal sin.

I'm not defending the guy or even saying he's good, but the hate for him is based on faulty reasoning and I think people mostly do it because he's an easy target, honestly I think his biggest crime is having a stupid rap name and being paired with a produer who is too good for him. I understand that tween white girls who don't listen to any other rap music are annoying people to deal with, but that's not Macklemore's fault.
Honestly if you're going to pick a semipopular white rapper to hate on, pick Mac Miller, who is now for some reason being lauded as a genius after Watching Movies With The Sound Off.

how? The only commentary he's ever made on the subject afaik is "Same Love", which is about his uncle specifically. I've never really seen any indication of him using that to further his own image a la a Lady Gaga or something.
