I remember someone on IJBM posting a screenshot of what might have been that blog responding to a nine-year-old girl saying that she felt bad about being skinny (she mentioned being seventy pounds) with an imprecation to go die of anorexia. Whether they knew the girl's age or not (she didn't say it outright in the question), that is unspeakably vile.

There's cool stuff on Tumblr that isn't porn. I follow this one young lady (and have had her blog bookmarked since long before I joined) that reblogs photos of all kinds of spooky and gorgeous things: Ancient cemeteries, plague doctor costumes, nature scenes, the occasional music thing. It's wonderful. And there are so many great illustration blogs, and blogs that post nothing but corgis in silly outfits... I love Tumblr. But some of it sucks.

She just wanted to know whether the music she was buying her children had swears in. It's just that other people didn't want songs with swears in to be available anywhere, and they decided to join the same organization. At least, that was the argument.

If I may repeat something I've said several times already, there are Tumblrites who run good blogs dealing with social justice. They make reasonable, insightful points and genuinely care about making things better for everyone.
It's just that the bad ones are so vocal and toxic that they tend to drown these good people out.

This is sort of true. I think it's partly an overcompensation for how apathetic other groups of people tend to be about issues that don't directly affect them, certain tumblr users are incredibly concerned with every issue.
