Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
All I'm saying is that, for the most part, white dude outrage is a tedious, unpleasant, deeply irritating, and unhelpful emotion to everyone involved, and I say this as someone who's engaged in it sometimes.

Yesquoting Kexruct. I'm finding absolutely nothing in the conversation that could remotely be described as "white dude outrage."
omg i was at starbucks and there was this girl and she had her hair in a bun and had a crop top with flowers on it and i hissed “hipster blog” and she turned around and snarled “fandom blog” and then we shook hands and exchanged urls her tumblr is pretty nice i dont see why there’s a rivalry we’re all wasting our lives on the same goddamn website
Lemee put it this way: I live in a rather unsavory neighborhood, and go outside, at nighttime, on a regular basis. Nothing bad has ever happened to me, or even seemed like it was going to happen.
Now, I have a 12 year old sister who looks 4-6 years older than she is. She has consistently faced threatening sexual advances and solicitation from a variety of men when she has left the house, and as a result avoids leaving the house outside of my company whenever possible.
I would just like to add that when I said that the comments were perpetuating some disturbing assumptions, I meant in general. There are plenty of circumstances under which the fear of sexual violence is justified. But to imply that women should live in fear regardless of the reality of their situation is doing nothing but harm. There is a difference between sensible caution (as your sister exhibits) and alarmism (what the poster was exhibiting).

Sredni, you said something that I wanted to say, but couldn't think of any way to say without coming across as jerkish. I sincerely thank you.

Yes. Yes we can.
Unless anyone else has anything to add, we can now return to reblogging fanart of Pokémon fusions until all 22,350 combinations of Generation I Pokémon have been created.
what if pop artists started naming their works like classical music omg
“Minaj: Symphonic Poem in D-flat Major, Op. 32 - I. Allegro: “Stupid Hoe”“
The tempo's closer to presto than allegro
"Stupid Hoe" does not conform to the traditional rules of Western tonality, so it would be imprudent to assign it a key. If one had to, A minor would probably be a better choice than D-flat major, as the A note from 0:48 to 1:00 is the closest thing the piece has to a tonic note (though the ending bit can probably be described as D-flat major)
"Stupid Hoe" is not the first in a series of movements. Therefore, it should not be marked as so.
Symphonic poetry doesn't actually use words. It's a strictly instrumental form of music, similar to program music like Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique. You'd be better off just calling it a 'Song'
Your opus number only counts the albums, ignoring the three mixtapes that she made.

The first thing I noticed was that it lists "Spiderman & Superman & Hulk, The Naruto & Batman & Ironman" but Superman and The Hulk are clearly not included.
Since we launched our first sponsored post on Tumblr Radar one year ago, we’ve been proud to see our partners bring their most creative work to Tumblr. Their posts have already earned more than 10 million likes and reblogs.
Today, we’ll start to bring sponsored posts to your Dashboard on the web. Just like in our mobile apps, these posts will simply blend in with the posts from the blogs you follow.
I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
Perhaps putting them at both the top and the bottom of the post would be better. Maybe it would be too clunky, but it would work best (and probably only be used) for especially long posts.
I think I'm finally done with the "Hitler dehumanization" argument that pops up on Tumblr every few months. While I've generally been in the "let's explore the humanity of the most hated man in recent history" camp, I've now decided that the argument is moot.
Yes, Hitler was a human being just like you and me, with hopes and dreams and love, and we're all capable of doing the same things that he did. Yes, depicting Hitler in a positive light diminishes the importance of the 6+ million deaths that he's directly or indirectly responsible for. But, as it tends to occur on Tumblr, it's a purely academic discussion, existing only in a vacuum. Your strong opinions about whether Hitler should be treated as an incorrigible monster or a flawed human being? Useless, unless you'll be doing work concerning historical revisionism or media deification/villification. And if you're not doing work in which such an opinion is necessary, there's no need to shove it into people's faces and get them angry. It's not like politics or religion, where the former factors heavily in life and the latter factors heavily in death. It's not an important issue that needs to be discussed at every turn.
Heck, why are we even focusing on Hitler? Is it impossible to get the "total vilification of a person is ill-advised" point across without bringing in Mr. Toothbrush Moustache and his band of Boy Scouts?
Immoral humans are humans as well, to try and paint them as anything less would be to try and deny the facits of humanity that could lead these people to do immoral acts.
I come from the mindset that reminding people about immoral people as humans is less about "Omg theys humans with emotions and dog" and more about "They're human, not a giant spaceslug"
Every time I reluctantly reblog one of those "STOP SCROLLING AND REBLOG THIS TO HELP [whatever]" posts I get the feeling I am not actually helping anyone do anything.

Yay, or Nay?

I don't mind it, to be honest. Yahoo's going to try and monetize this one way or another; this way doesn't seem so bad.
It's exactly what makes Facebook suck, I absolutely mind it.
And Tumblr's staff has never cared about addons, it'll break every two weeks.

I'm 100% behind the new location of the reblog buttons and whatnot. It's just that it doesn't look right.

I'll just keep this around in case.

Well, at least the sponsored posts are kind of funny.
