I made a text post consisting of nothing put the word "pony" and the tag #pony and it got 6 notes in like 7 minutes.
I don't understand why my frustration with this whole phenomenon is so hard to get.
Your hatred/feigned indifference for the Harlem Shake/Baauer has ascended into the unrelatable tier of hatred, higher than any of us could reach. This level of hatred-attention ratio is usually on scale with abusive family members, or terrorist attacks. But an online nobody asshole getting fame and recognition is not worth the amount of attention you give it.
It's kind of like, with what you told us, we have a Level 51 Hatred for Baauer/Harlem Shake, equivalent to the normal reaction for recurring and annoying things. But you are clocked in around Level 9400+ Hatred for Baauer/Harlem Shake. That much hatred could only mean it was something that you were directly involved with, to have that much emotional investment into it, or Baauer fucked you over really bad and triggered this chronic hatred for him.Your Hatred Level is probably even higher if you react to Baauer/Harlem Shake in real life like this, and not just on the internet.

So, I got called an a-hole over tumblr for the first time for making a crack about the $20,000 fantrolls in Homestuck. I spent two hours debating whether to respond to that or not. On the one hand, she insulted my honor and made a really poor response to my position. On the other hand, she's just another Homestuck blogger, so who cares?
But then I found out that the person has a sideblog strictly for conservative, anti-Democrat stuff, and I stopped caring. Knowing that this person has political views different than mine made me stop caring about her opinions.
Well, if it's explicitly about anti-Democrat stuff rather than mere broad-spectrum conservative stuff, then that shows a certain single-minded belligerence much as any anti-whatever blog would. The fact that she got into a tizzy over some offhand remark about Homestuck only underlines the fact that she is an angry person with too much time on her hands and she needs to take a chill pill.
But even if it were about the political aspect alone, depending upon how antithetical it were, I honestly could not blame you. Were it, say, extremely socially conservative and bigoted, then I really couldn't blame you.
There really is no such thing as a "mainline republican" anymore. The party is almost all either extremists or those too apathetic to do anything about the extremists.
I took a look at her blog to try and answer Fouria's question. I ended up getting sucked into it for about an hour. I have the worst headache right now.
The short answer to that question is mainline. Fervently mainline. The kind of person who sees modern liberalism as an attack against conservatism rather than a different viewpoint. Not particularly prejudiced, except concerning Palestine (called a 'cutthroat nation') and transpeople (which she equates to a thing that young people do before they mature), but she goes out of her way to cherrypick examples of liberals being stupid.
In conclusion, I'm no longer concerned about her opinion, even if she's a homestuck blogger who probably has more followers than me. And I've learned a valuable lesson: political tumblrs are all just terrible, on both sides of the political spectrum. Some of them are good, but 90% of them are terrible, and the terrible bloggers on one side of the spectrum incite the terrible bloggers on the other side. And they just feed into each other and make war and that's why nothing can be done in this country. We focus more on insulting our political competitors than actually making government. All the information and news is biased towards one side of the spectrum, so there's no accurate information about politics that the moderates can use to make their decisions. It's all a big Gordian knot, and slicing it in half would only make things worse.

Yarrun reblogged an Anita Sarkeesian video, and from what I've seen so far, it misses a very valuable point that I've really only seen made once- the problem isn't women in traditional roles, the problem is that those portrayals are more common than portrayals of women in other roles.
