I think that you're falling into a very questionable intellectual reflex action here. While I may not agree with all of Beran's points, a stuffed-shirt miserablist he is not.
I'm no cynic. I'm just utterly exhausted with these "this good thing actually sucks and this is why" type articles, and making them so long only adds insult to injury.
The problem here is that the article isn't about that. It's about... ideas and perceptions, I suppose. It's not really about The Dark Knight Rises at all; that's just what sparks the discussion.
Furthermore, writing off those that make valid points in the same fashion as those that don't can only serve to equate the two, which is dangerous.

You know, for all the brouhaha that certain Tumblr factions make about fairness and trying to do right by mistreated minorities, the really don't seem to understand how to deal with people that actually need help.

The rebuttal I read mentioned that if you actually swallow that many sleeping pills you'd start throwing up immediately and lose the ability to speak and that kind of thing. According to the guy who said that, he called the number that was given and the police said she was taken to a mental hospital.

Well, I dunno. The whole "taking pills makes you puke" think is pretty damning evidence, I'd say. She obviously deserves help but I don't appreciate the whole fake suicide thing. I was pretty worried about her last night.

I'm not angry, and there is credence to idea she'd start throwing up (though, passing out before taking enough of the active ingredient is also very common), it's just a lot of the other stuff doesn't really add up.

A 14 year old with the ability to Google side effects of ODing on sleeping pills wrapping that information in an opinion piece doesn't really constitute solid evidence that it was faked.
Wait, crap, I was using the mobile version when I saw that. If I'd seen that he was fourteen I'd have probably been a bit more skeptical.
Still, the actual effect of pills makes it a bit more difficult to believe that she actually attempted suicide. I'm very unsure about this, but either way, like 7Eleven said, we really need to get rid of this idea that suicide is quirky or cute.

She's disturbed obviously. And, looking at her blog it's actually not clear if she took the pills or just said she would and then a friend blogged her phone all over the bitch until authorities had her taken to the hospital.
Mostly, I feel bad for the parents here, really.
From what I saw before posts where deleted (wonder why that is...) her mom was going to take away her internet privileges for getting bad grades and that's what made her decide suicide was a good idea,
Now her dad comes on and says she won't get on tumblr but apparently her mom has caved and let her borrow her Kindle a few times.
Wonder if the mom feels guilty?
Unless it is a hoax, but if it is, one most wonder why she's posting at all. I'd imagine most parents would ground their daughters away from human contact for a while...like...until they where legally required to let their daughter attend school, or some such...
Also, she just says "sleeping pills" I wonder if she, say just took a bunch of nightquil capsules, which would probably be a whole 'nother beast than prescription sleeping pills. I don't even think those would kill you right away., they MAY cause liver failiure if you took enough...

I've started to get bored with tumblr. It's all started to feel far too repetitive, which is exacerbated by reblogs and people reblogging each others' shit.
Two weeks later and...yeah, I'm actually kinda starting to feel this way too.
