The thing about Ayn Rand is, despite having batshit insane politics and a terrifying ego—which may well have ultimately been compensation for the fact that she was a female Russian right-wing intellectual, fuelled by her believing her own press—she was not stupid, nor was she incapable of delivering a magnificent aphorism now and then. Credit where credit is due, brethren.

...beyond the obvious stupidity of that, there's the question of...why put those tags on that one particular reblog??

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that some people take "don't follow me if" to that level of obsessiveness, but here I am
I feel like Tumblr spends more time looking for the one dude on Tumblr who still doesn't believe Ruby and Sapphire are lesbians and shaming him than they do enjoying Steven Universe.

Which is a shame, because it's a good show.
Ok, this I haven't encountered, which is encouraging because it means I'm surrounding myself with the right kind of Steven Universe fans

I think I knew I was following the right mix of Steven Universe fans when "Keeping It Together" aired and my dash was split about evenly between "OH MY GOD THAT'S SO DISTURBING" and "hahaha, Pericopter!"
I was in the former camp, for the record. That episode fucked me up for a few days.

i can get "don't follow me if you're a terf" or minors that are like "don't follow me if you're 25+ years old" to protect themselves from creepers but y'know. also idk if they made a distinction between men and dfab trans people because they're transphobic or because they also don't want genderqueer followers (which is still transphobic lol), but either way they're an asshole and i'm annoyed
also i'm glad i apparently follow the right su fans

Explanation for people who don't follow Steven Universe (don't click this, AU):
Spoiler:
Gems can "fuse" by combining their physical forms to make one being.
Gems are effectively killed when their gemstone is shattered.
This episode revealed that the series' antagonists had taken the shattered pieces of fallen gems and forcibly combined them, nonconsensually fusing their physical forms. It also made it clear that these gems were aware of their situation and wanted to escape the forced fusion, but were unable.

See for me it was more the implications than the monster itself, which seemed like typical gem monster fare they've fought before.

I've seen far more people who freak out about the menace of either the show itself or the fans of it than people who do that, TBH.
I see "not your typical SU fans" on the subreddit for the show semi-often.
Granted the environment is different but it's really weird to see people deny that transpeople exist on a place devoted to discussing what is arguably the most LGBT-friendly mainstream cartoon ever.

Reddit seems like a really weird, often unpleasant environment in a less consistent but more extreme way than SA is.
Yeah, that's the thing with Reddit: Most of my actual experience with the site has been OK, but there are these pockets of really, really nasty people and exceedingly bad behaviour.

Alright, I'm relenting on the "not mentioning my age, gender, etc. on my blog" thing for now.
Just because I've gotten a lot of new followers over the past...*checks watch*...16 hours or so, and I know that when I follow a new blog I like to know at least a little bit about the blogger.
i don't really think of my age or gender as important information for knowing who i am. of course, depending on your usual topics i guess that might not be the casee...

Basically for me there's that moment of "Is this person a minor? What kind of interaction should I be using around them?"
Because I'm not opposed to minors following me--my blog is usually all-ages appropriate--but it does inform how I interact with people, being technically an adult and all.

Fixed. I keep forgetting that Tumblr supports TLS on the dash but not on blogs for some reason.
Also, most of my other pages are out of date and it's honestly gonna just be easier to remove the links than to try and update them.

Are you looking at the tags on the Rowling post?
Which is a shame, because it's a good show.
Not that I see any of that either, just jokes at the guy's expense.

So yeah, that weirded me out.
Holy crap, I forgot that. That *was* disturbing.

You really need to update your About Me page, BTW.
