Also, "conflict is everything" is by definition a really stupid concept. If you put conflict in everything, the audience doesn't know what to focus on.

forgive me if I don't quite care about your opinion when it comes to "what's wrong" with Tumblr.
mind you, there is quite a lot wrong with Tumblr, the site itself has horror stories to offer about the people who work on it, nevermind that the code and mobile apps for the site are actually garbage.
it offers a platform to whoever wants one, and can create a feedback loop. replies to positions are often secular in their existence. this helps people like, Neo-nazis on the site, MRAs(Misogynists), Gamergaters, etc.
there's also very little protection against harassment, there's little tools in place to report people.

Does every single statement I make about Tumblr culture need to be prefaced with "but of course there are bloggers who aren't like this"?
I mean, people being too eager to call others bigots instead of engaging in discourse isn't a universal problem, no, but it's definitely a widespread one.
I don't get why tumblr keeps watching huge movies and shows with poor treatment of queer characters, then gets inordinately angry at indie movies that are 96% good at trans instead of 100%

A lot of Tumblr teens are new enough to social justice stuff that they haven't yet learned that you have to accept small victories and incremental improvements. There's a sort of all-or-nothing thinking that I hope most of them will eventually grow out of.
The original Red Dawn was such a product of its time that it was dated before it even hit its fifth birthday. Why anyone would want to remake it (or cast China as the villains when our relationship with them has never been as adversarial as the one with the Soviet Union) is beyond me.
