A lot of Tumblr people seem to view ignorance as though it's a willful act and not merely a default state

I don't think people are trashing a Pixar short film in bad faith, though.
when u have an entire lifetime of people not understanding anything about your culture I could understand how you'd end up frustrated when people trash something that's trying to pay tribute to it
i'm kind of annoyed that a valid point about gendering of cartoon characters is getting brushed aside because some people are ignorant of a historical figure, which while true, is irrelevant to the original criticism which still stands

that and if someone's not aware of steven universe and then asks "what series is this" it gets annoying. less so with su but more so with more obscure series

I tag most of what I post/reblog mainly because Tumblr's search function is complete rubbish and I would like to have at least a slight chance of finding posts again someday

tagging things as me/kin because people flip their shit over that now and will continue to do so for the next 5 months until they find something else to be mad about

Someone reblogged it and tagged it #kin and that made me happy for some reason
there is an xkit extension that allows you to see what people tag your posts as and a bunch of tumblr artists got upset about people tagging things as me or kin because they felt it violated their ownership of the work somehow, and then it kinda snowballed in this groupthinky wayway so now tons of people feel obligated to get mad about it
