Those...don't really sound that much alike. I guess if you say they both go down and then up. But like, they don't even take the same number of intervals, much less the same size.
My sister did a dance competition to Zanarkand though. It was awesome.
Yeah but if you're just making a simple tune like that it's actually pretty easy to accidentally make something that sounds really similar to something else.

I know, I wasn't throwing around accusations or anything.

In both cases, they just have similar melodic contours. Although "Because" was clearly inspired by the Moonlight Sonata, it has a completely different melody and harmonic value to it.
Me, too! But hearing it on a recording from the '60s by a very mainstream band, even taking into account that this is The Beatles we're talking about, is a pleasant surprise.
Aside: Zanarkand is clearly a reference to Samarkand in the valley of Ferghana (now Uzbekistan), Tamerlane's capital and one of the best-preserved mediaeval cities in Asia.
If you didn't know this already, it's a cool place.
Also, I'm now listening to the Beatles and basically the only things it has in common with Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata are the key maybe like snippets of the accompaniment figuration.

I think those things are pretty cool, personally
This game is from 1997. FFX is from 2001.
Other than that, they are very dissimilar.
