Welcome to Centralia's capital city, the heart of it all! Where do you want to go today?

  • Where do you want to go today?

    Redmond, WA.

While it's pretty cool that you got that reference, our subway lines don't actually go that far.

Besides, the last time I let Chrysanthemum Rose go to Washington, she spent the entire time smoking weed because "it's legal there". It's legal in Centralia, too, but for some reason she never does it here...?

Is the City politically separate from the County?  Or just a part of it?

Is Queen City the county seat of Queen City County?

And what are the full and proper names of each?

BUMP for the GLORY of HER MAJESTY
  • Sup bitches, witches, Haters, and trolls.
I want to tour one of the old castles today, before I have to go in for my witch license renewal, racket as it is
  • Vampire Lady of Corvidia

    (The other Jane)

Funny thing: Queen City is a nickname for Seattle, which is pretty close to Redmond.
Less funny thing: Our subways still don't go that far, if only because we just got around to building them and the rest of the state wants to screw us over.
  • why does the US hate rail
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
Propaganda from GM and Firestone, the Interstate Highway System making truck and bus lines competitive with long-distance rail (and airline deregulation making things hard for Amtrak).

I suspect racism and classism enter into it as well. While the US is a big place, that's no excuse; the Interstate is far bigger than any of the high-speed rail projects anyone's proposed, but it catered directly to suburban white families with the disposable income to go on long car trips while rail in general serves mainly blacks and Hispanics (this is why you don't see a lot of support for it in the South).
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
The NYC Subway, Washington Metro, Boston T and Chicago L are all considered absolutely vital, but subway in places like Atlanta get attacked with racial slurs all the damn time.
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
I would also bet there's some provincialism involved; I would not be surprised if some white-haired old cracker in Mississippi or Alabama is like "We don't want them carpetbaggers and scalawags coming down here on the rails to take over our Great Southern Nation again!" Especially if the line connects to DC and New York!

Of course, if that were the case, then why haven't they cried bloody murder over the Crescent, which has been around for decades? Probably because it's long, slow and always late because of CSX or NS holding it up.

(Sorry about the off-topic rant, but the sorry state of rail in the US really annoys me. :( )

well there's also the fact that rail probably feels sorta more public-good-ish than roads

and some fucking conservatives/republicans are like WE CAN'T HAVE RAIL BECAUSE IT"S COMMUNIST AND AGAINST OUR FREEDOM

A GUBBERMINT PROMOTING RAIL WANTS TO TAKE AWAY OUR CARS FOR SOME TREE_HUGGING HIPPIES"S 'VAARONMENTAL PRIORITIES

THEY"RE IN CAHOOTS WIHT THE UN AND THE ILLUMINATI IMPOSING AGENDA @! ON US AND TAKING AWAY OUR FREEDOMS AND SOON THEY"LL TAKE AWAY OUR GUNS TOO
  • trains are cool, cars are ugly

Yeah, that's kind of where I was going with that, though the line between being anti-poor and outright racist in the US is thin indeed.
