Anonus will likely try to silence me, I can already hear the silent ninjas approaching my location.

But you can never fight freedom, with freedom.

Freedom fighters.

I think I saw a documentary on this.

It was called Iron Man One through Three.

Iron Man is a sexist term and thus will be disqualified from SMWCentral.

    Sorry, let me edit that.
  • I have perfected space travel.   .      .        .          .             .              .          .           .             .           .

A kind of visual pun for the little ones.

And then space face, the best kind of face out there.

Unless we're talking about Animal face, that face is just the face of a tomorrow's lie.

Please do not listen to this individual.

Here at Yeyland Wutani corporation, we specialise in only the finest and most highly advanced techniques and science in our bid to further the human race. Our biofuels division works tirelessly around the clock to develop a new power system that is both clean and efficient. Our law division shuts down those who would harm the environment or people in the name of profit. Unlike some other, smaller, less scrupulous businesses, we do not have a bioweapons division, dedicated to the destruction of the human race, an act which is both sickening and vile. This has been a public service announcement from Yeyland Wutani corporation, making your world better, yesterday.

OK. I lied, I haven't actually seen Three yet, though I understand the basic plot is the same.

I've only seen the first and the third. I've heard that the second is a classic case of a sequel being rushed out the door...

You know, I thought it was OK. I've been told a basic plot outline of three and it sounds pretty ridiculous.

Still wouldn't mind seeing it at some point, however.

I don't know how much you like spoilers, but the movie's version of the Mandarin isn't Asian, which means the name now makes no sense.

Bugged me, even though I had to look up the Mandarin after watching it.

This was already spoiled for me (because I didn't mind for the sake on nowing what was wrong with the movie). I agree it makes no damn sense.

I understand his motives where pretty petty for the sheer amount of death and carnage he perpetrated.

Also, I find it silly that comic book movies are avoiding magic.

    Mutants? Sure.

Aliens with technology sufficient enough technology it might as well BE magic? Why not?

But a villain that actually uses magic? I'm afraid that might challenge the audiences willing suspension of disbelief.
  • Not a hybrid rabbit-skink spirit
They explained the name as being symbolic in the movie, which I think is a perfectly acceptable reason.

    First thought: "Ubisoft isn't evil!"

Second thought: "Okay, well, Ubisoft is evil but Ubisoft Montpellier isn't."

Third thought: "Then again, they're not Activision."
  • I know about Mandarin from Marvel Ultimate Alliance. He struck me as more of an Iron Fist villain than an Iron Man villain. But, I guess that's why the real villain was the scientist man.

You know what's wonk about recent nerd movies? You can't just have one villain. Star Trek switches out that one guy with Khan. The entire Dark Knight trilogy has the climaxes end with the secondary villains that nobody expected. And now Iron Man 3. It's almost like they can't be honest with the audience.
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
One villain is boring, seen it a million times.
  • apparently a bunch of episodes of Tropes vs. Women got false-flagged.

  • Father shall be swallowed by the son, and brother shall be swallowed by brother.

One villain is boring, seen it a million times.

    True.

Two seems to be the sweet spot. Three is spreading the butter too thin (see Spider-Man 3) and one is the traditional number, making it played out to an extent.

Honestly, if a movie (or anything, really) is able to hook me with one really well done villain or two high-quality ones, either option is fine by me.
  • ...And even when your hope is gone
move along, move along, just to make it through
    (2015 self)
No, the best is when it turns out that the "villain" was a good guy all along and was trying to stop the actual villain.

But then that villain is just a front for the real villain, which was the "villain" from earlier.
