I thought I saw a man brought to life...

He was warm, he came around like he was dignified
He showed me what it was to cry

You couldn't be that man I adored
You don't seem to know, seem to care, what your heart is for
I don't know him anymore

There's nothing where he used to lie
My conversation has run dry
That's what's going on...
Nothing's fine, I'm torn

I'm all out of faith, this is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed, lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed into something real
I'm wide awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn

You're a little late
I'm already torn...

(And before anyone mentions it: Yes, the most popular recording of this song is a cover.)

I hope the floor has carpet

I must be one of the few people who actively prefers the original version.

  • You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022

I'm torn between the two (pun totally intended)

Ednaswap's version has more raw emotion behind it, but it doesn't have quite as much earwormy sticking power as Imbruglia's, at least for me

    I prefer Trine Rein's version
