  You know how stores play music and ads over their PA systems? Some stores will throw in prerecorded messages to the effect of "Security, please scan areas 2 and 4" in an attempt to trick would-be shoplifters into thinking they're being actively watched.

  Here's a vintage example: this is a tape designed to play in Kmart stores in 1974, and at 13:24 a voice comes on asking security to report to "Section 3".
