visible effects of time
I have (admittedly rather vague) memories of visiting the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Powell, Ohio with my family as a child. One of the landmarks that meant we were getting close to the zoo was this farm with a silo proudly bearing the name "Big Bear Farms".
That was the early '90s. After not going to the zoo for a few years, we came back in the early 2000s...and the farm was gone. In its place? A new housing development bearing the same name--Big Bear Farms.
My child-self found it strange: seeing a place I was familiar with change before my eyes, with only a name left to remind me of what used to be.
...Does anyone else have any experiences like that?

I remember going back to see a house I used to live in, a few years afterward, and finding that the new owners had made some significant changes. Added railings to the front deck, that kind of stuff. That was sort of surreal.
And then there's the grocery store I worked at when I was 18, which looked almost nothing like it does now. Multiple renovations and expansions will do that.
