Space Ghost: Coast to Coast

I think this has earned it's own thread.

No secret the many members find this show hilarious.

I did have a couple of things to get us started with:

"Girl Hair": I think this episode was genius. It was probably one of the shows most bizarre episodes, which is saying a lot, but the way it unfolded was just hilarious. I think the treatment of the guest, band Hanson, also warrants special note.

The band was probably near the peak of their career at this point, but as a Pop sensation, they where despised in some circles, and it seemed many of these circles would be the ones who would also be watching Space Ghost.

So Space Ghost has some bizarre, but upbeat search for a comb that ends up in the woods which eventually culminates in Space Ghost disposing of all three brothers because they where witnesses to him colliding with the Tooth Fairy in Space. Somehow, I always felt that was a smart move, the show gave the audience what it wanted in an entertaining fashion, but didn't stoop to going "Hanson sucks, lol".

Also:

Four rocks found on the planet Mars were named after Space Ghost, Zorak, Moltar, and Brak.^[10]^[11]

HELL. FUCKING. YES.

The are plenty of episodes online.

Bizarro Santa is when you knew the episode had finished divorcing itself from reason and had officially murdered reason and was proceeding to wee on the corpse.

I thought it was already approaching that point when Zorak showed the toothy grin...

But yeah, that was clever how they handled the Hanson thing, put that way. I didn't really notice when I watched it, lacking that context.

Bob Costas is doing color commentary on the Super Bowl right now, and all I can think of it Space Ghost yelling "COME ON, COSTAS! START SOMETHING!"

Interesting...that's George Lowe (Space Ghost's voice) playing the spokesperson in this clip instead of Al Roker. I wonder if this is the rough cut, or if they had to leave Al out for some reason.

I distinctly remember Al Roker, but when I saw the clip, I had assumed that I must have mistaken the very BLACK Al Roker for the very white voice actor of Space Ghost.

I'm a fan of the show. I think there's something about me that might give people the impression.

My favorite are the older episodes, though, like when Birdman took over after Space Ghost was jailed.

Those where pretty funny. Harvey might have been one of the few character they introduced who was even LESS qualified to have a talk show.

There's some similarities there, but he's definitely more competent in Attorney at Law.

Any remember in Intense Patriotism where Jeff Foxworthy was bitching about the questions and the format of SGC2C and Space Ghost countered with "The difference between our two shows is...MINE is still ON!" This was like a year after Foxworthy's failed sit-com and it remains one of the greatest burns I have seen in the history of burns.

I always preferred the older episodes anyway. Season 7 was alright but season 8 tried too hard to be crude and felt wrong to me.

I mislike that Ren & Stimpy made many believe that "crude = comedy".

Space Ghost definitely has some shades in this late in it's history. The last episode is a good example.

It falls into though "crude - comedy" category, so I think I might agree there. I had completely forgotten that Triumph was the guest, probably because I cared not at all. And...it's not like you can really insult a show that doesn't take itself seriously at all.

The song, or at least part of it, and his weird slogan, "We moisten your dreams with man-urine." is all I really remember.
