Siesta culture

This was brought up in my psych class. The idea of siesta culture. Do tropical societies and pre-industrialized media desensitise and normalise the general public to sleep in the heat of the day?

(This is the happy, friendly alternative to the rape culture thread on TV Tropes. Oh, and no posting here between the hours of 3pm-5pm. Get off the fora and take a nap!

I think it's common anywhere the heat of mid-day sucks bad to be out in. Usually, night time for quite awhile is a good temp to be out in, as well.

So it makes good sense to just be asleep for the few hours when no one can do much of anything, then come back when it's nice and comfortable to be out.

Well, put it like this, There is a phrase about siesta's and it goes like this

Mad dog the Englishman, out in the midday sun

So they dont really desensitises the population if people aren't used to siesta's
