Before YouTube came along, the Flash animation scene had a ton of diversity and flavor to it, Homestar Runner alongside Madness Combat and There She Is. After YouTube came out, it's mostly been Egoraptor and the many folks copying his style.

What do you think? Correlation or causation? Or am I just imagining that Flash has gotten less interesting?

It could just be that the good stuff isn't getting as much exposure, could also be nostalgia filter, that you aren't remembering the new examples as often, or that the people making those things have moved over to projects in other media. In any case, you can't convince me Flash is dead until apple.mov has left recent memory. Actually now that I think about it, MLP:FiM is done in Flash.

OneyG and egoraptor are the only people copying egoraptor and OneyG's style.

The guy who made the ASDFmovies, Sin Ball, Z0NE and Skaijo still do their own style.

I'm just wondering what will become of Homestar Runner now that its creators seem to have lost interest in it.

Probably nothing. I bet they'll still be making some money from merch, though.
