we've taken down the stockings
we've packed up all the lights
we've put the tree away now
for a long long summer night

we were all aboard the ex-press
but now we're all back home
it's time for a vacation
for every elf and gnome

that's why we've gathered here
with our houses filled with presents
our hearts all filled with cheer
to say there's not much left to say
but "merry christmas, next year!"

Ideally I suppose a song should have multiple verses, but the thing sprang into my head so fully formed I couldn't not write it down.
